What we need

Symbotic is seeking Cost Estimator & Lifecycle Analyst develops data-driven lifecycle cost models to support warranty forecasting, retrofit and upgrade pricing, lifecycle replacement demand planning, and ROI-driven business cases. This role translates technical and operational inputs into actionable financial insights that guide strategic investment, pricing, and risk management decisions across the product lifecycle.

What we do

The Lifecycle Management Team is part of Symbotic's Service Operations organization and is responsible for ensuring our robotics systems deliver long-term performance, reliability, and measurable business value. We partner closely with customer executives, site leadership, and collaborate cross-functionally with technology, engineering, and site operations teams to optimize installed systems, drive operational excellence, and extend asset life. Our focus goes beyond maintenance. We proactively identify and execute refurbishment, component upgrades, and modernization initiatives that enhance system capability, improve uptime, and maximize return on investment.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain complex lifecycle cost models, including Life Cycle Cost Estimates (LCCE), and demand forecasting tools.


  • Perform parametric cost estimating, regression analysis, and data normalization using historical datasets to identify cost drivers and trends.


  • Evaluate design alternatives and assess costs across the full product lifecycle (development through end-of-life).


  • Interpret technical documentation such as blueprints, P&IDs, and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) to extract accurate cost inputs.


  • Support warranty reserve planning and cost-recovery strategies through financial modeling and trend analysis.


  • Generate pricing inputs and financial analysis for retrofit and upgrade programs.


  • Analyze lifecycle cost trends, margin performance, and financial exposure to inform strategic decisions.


  • Conduct sensitivity and scenario analyses to assess risk, quantify uncertainty, and determine appropriate contingencies.


  • Develop and present clear, data-driven business cases to support lifecycle investment decisions.


  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Commercial teams to translate technical assumptions into commercial and financial outputs.


  • Present and defend complex financial analyses to leadership and key stakeholders with clarity and confidence.


  • Maintain high attention to detail to ensure accuracy in cost assumptions, estimates, and reporting.


  • Other duties as assigned.


What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Engineering, Operations, Business Analytics, or a related field (Master's preferred).


  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in cost modeling, lifecycle analysis, or operations analytics.


  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling tools.


  • Experience with systems such as ACEIT (or similar cost estimating tools), Power BI, and SAP ERP.


  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.


  • Approximate 30% may be required in support of the position's responsibilities.

  • Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to clients and other customer locations.


  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing/submitting their expenses for reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis to Symbotic.


  • The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.


  • Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out/tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.


  • If the site location is under construction, or as otherwise required in accordance with the applicable safety requirements for the work environment, you will be required to wear proper PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).


  • Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $87,000.00 - $119,900.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
