  • At least one year of cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Summary

The Cost Accountant is responsible for accurate and timely processing and analysis of manufacturing cost. Also responsible for general ledger accounting, including journal entries, month-end close process, financial reporting, account analysis and reconciliation.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Cost Accountant processes cost transactions, analyzes and adjusts direct sales cost of goods sold, reports on activity to management.
  • Analyzes excess/slow moving, obsolescence, and warranty reserves; makes journal entries based on analysis.
  • Records monthly period cost entries and manufacturing variances; prepares analysis reports as needed.
  • The Cost Accountant reviews, analyzes, and ensures adequate controls of inventory balances; audits the cycle count process for inventory.
  • Posts direct labor hours.
  • Establishes and reviews standard costs.
  • Performs manufacturing and month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, preparation and distribution of financial information, account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Analyze monthly budget vs actual manufacturing variances.
  • Assists with the annual fiscal year-end audit and any internal audits as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
