Cost Accountant

Job Summary:

The Cost Accountant supports Manufacturing and Operations through product costing, inventory accounting, close, reporting, and financial controls. The role requires strong accounting fundamentals, recent hands-on SAP experience, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to manage a high-volume workload. Manufacturing cost-accounting experience is preferred, but a strong accountant with SAP proficiency and learning agility may succeed with structured onboarding.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support product costing in SAP, including material masters, bills of material, routings, activity rates, labor, overhead, and purchasing information.
• Analyze manufacturing variances, inventory activity, cycle counts, valuation, reserves, and related discrepancies.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, documentation, and assigned SOX controls.
• Manage assigned labor, overhead, precious-metals, and other operational accounting and reporting activities.
• Support Operations forecasting, budgeting, capital analysis, and financial reporting.
• Use SAP to research posting, costing, inventory, and master-data issues and validate data for analysis.
• Respond to audit requests and participate in ERP, system-enhancement, acquisition, and process-improvement projects.
• Manage recurring and ad hoc assignments, competing priorities, and close deadlines accurately while communicating risks early.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Three or more years of progressive accounting experience.
• At least two years of recent, hands-on SAP accounting experience, including transaction analysis, data extraction, and discrepancy research.
• Strong accounting fundamentals, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, general ledger analysis, inventory accounting, and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume workload with accuracy, ownership, sound prioritization, and timely communication.
• Strong learning agility, technology aptitude, judgment, attention to detail, and cross-functional communication skills.
• Availability to work the weekend before each month-end close is required.
• Occasional travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Manufacturing, inventory, product-costing, or SAP CO-PC experience.
• Experience with bills of material, routings, cost releases, manufacturing variances, precious-metals accounting, SAP Analytics Cloud, or Power BI.
• CMA, CGMA, CPA, or progress toward a relevant certification.

Early Success in the Role:

The successful candidate will learn MACOM's processes and controls, demonstrate effective SAP navigation, and complete supported recurring work during the first 30 days. By 60 days, the candidate should independently own selected close, reconciliation, inventory, and reporting activities, then progress toward broader costing and variance responsibilities over the following months.

RSU Eligible

This position is eligible to receive restricted stock unit (RSU) awards and cash bonuses, solely at MACOM's discretion, subject to individual and company performance.

Salary Range
