Cost Accountant
Job Description
Position Summary
The Cost Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization's manufacturing and inventory accounting processes through cost analysis, financial reporting, inventory valuation, controls support, and operational business partnership. This role analyzes manufacturing results, identifies trends and root causes, provides commentary and recommendations, and partners with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, and Finance leadership to support accurate reporting and data-driven decision-making.
Responsibilities
Month-End Close and Financial Reporting
· Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes related to cost accounting and inventory.
· Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and account reconciliations.
· Reconcile inventory, manufacturing, and financial accounting transactions by comparing, validating, and correcting data.
· Ensure accurate recording and reporting of cost accounting activities in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
Inventory Accounting, Controls, and Compliance
· Analyze inventory aging, inventory turns, shrink, scrap, MRB inventory, and in-transit balances for global manufacturing sites.
· Support inventory reserve analysis and related accounting assessments.
· Support cycle count programs, annual physical count, and related financial audit requirements.
· Analyze work order variances to standard cost, investigate material usage, labor efficiency, routing, and overhead absorption variances, and partner with Manufacturing and Operations teams to improve the work order closure.
· Assist in maintaining and improving inventory-related internal controls and compliance procedures.
Analytics and Process Improvement
· Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen cost accounting processes, reporting quality, and decision support.
· Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, and Finance teams to support business objectives.
· Present analysis, recommendations, and key business insights to management and executive leadership.
· Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable recommendations that support operational and strategic decision-making.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
· Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
· Demonstrated experience in manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
· Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
· Experience with ERP systems, such as Oracle Fusion or a similar enterprise platform.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
· Ability to prepare, present, and communicate financial analysis to business leaders and executive audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
· MBA, CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification.
· Experience with Oracle Fusion Cost Management, Inventory, or related ERP modules.
· Experience with Hyperion Planning, Adaptive, Power BI, or equivalent planning and analytics tools.
· Experience supporting annual standard cost roll processes, PPV analysis, inventory reserve management, and manufacturing variance reporting.
· Knowledge of SOX compliance, financial controls, and audit support practices.
· Experience in semiconductor, industrial manufacturing, electronics, automation, or high-tech manufacturing environments.
Compensation
Base Salary Range: $84,178.82 USD to $113,888.99 USD
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
