The Corridor Program Medical Director, Specialty Programs and Geriatrics- Edmonton provides physician leadership for the planning, integration, quality, and delivery of specialty and geriatric services within an assigned health corridor. The role supports the implementation of provincial strategic priorities, clinical standards, quality initiatives, and service delivery models while ensuring responsiveness to regional needs and operational realities.

Medical Leadership and Clinical Excellence
• Provide corridor-based physician leadership for specialty and geriatric programs.
• Support implementation of provincial clinical standards, pathways, and best practices.
• Promote evidence-informed, person-centred, and culturally safe care.
• Ensure alignment of corridor services with provincial program objectives and priorities.
Program and Operational Leadership
• Work collaboratively in a dyad relationship with the corridor operational leader to ensure effective service delivery.
• Support implementation of provincial initiatives, service redesign, and transformation activities.
• Identify service gaps and opportunities for innovation.
Quality, Safety, and Performance Improvement
• Monitor corridor performance against quality indicators and outcome measures.
• Lead and support quality improvement initiatives.
• Support accreditation readiness and regulatory compliance.
Physician Engagement and Workforce Development
• Support physician recruitment, onboarding, retention, mentorship, and succession planning.
• Develop physician leadership capacity and foster engagement across specialty services.
System Integration and Partnerships
• Build strong relationships with healthcare providers, community organizations, academic partners, and specialty networks.
• Support research, innovation, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
REPORTING AND ACCOUNTABILITY
• Reports directly to the Provincial Medical Director, Specialty Programs and Geriatrics.
• Has dual accountability to the Corridor Medical Lead for corridor priorities, physician engagement, operational alignment, and local service integration.
• Collaborates with corridor operational leaders and provincial program leadership.
Qualifications:
• MD or equivalent medical degree.
• CFPC or RCPSC certification.
• Licensed or eligible for CPSA licensure.
• Eligible for Medical Staff Appointment in Alberta.
• Demonstrated physician leadership experience
