Job Summary

Superintendent will oversee the Merrimack County Department of Corrections, a 315-bed correctional facility located in Boscawen, New Hampshire. The building has 7 housing units; reception, work release, minimum, general, female, maximum and medical classifications and is designed to support objective based classification and direct supervision management concepts along with a Community Corrections Center. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in and a commitment to this operational philosophy. Administrative and leadership abilities required to maintain the management philosophy of the organization; monitor and motivate personnel; manage the annual operating budget; interpret and clarify regulations, policies and procedures; and represent the Department of Corrections within and outside of the County.

Required Education & Experience

Possession of a Bachelor's degree with major course work in criminal justice, social services, public administration or related field. Ten years' experience in criminal justice, social services or related field, with five years of managerial/administrative experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Certified Correctional Officer by the New Hampshire Association of Counties. Possession of a valid New Hampshire Driver's License.
