You help coordinate daily schedules, support organized inmate movement, and guide officers in staying focused and confident. Your leadership builds stability and structure at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Fayette. This position lets you make a strong impact on facility operations while supporting a team that depends on your direction and experience.
DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis position focuses on supervisory oversight and the coordination of daily facility operations throughout the institution. You support staff performance, security procedures, and organized inmate movement to ensure a stable and well-functioning environment. As a Corrections Officer 3, you will perform the following duties:
- Staff Supervision: Lead correctional officers and monitor their duties for compliance with policies and regulations
- Operational Oversight: Coordinate daily schedules and maintain records related to security, movement, and activities
- Housing Unit Tours: Conduct regular inspections of inmate areas and identify concerns or behavioral changes
- Transport Management: Ensure inmate transports, searches, and processing activities follow required procedures
- Policy Enforcement: Investigate staff violations, issue discipline, and assist with grievance reviews
- Crisis Response: Act in urgent situations with appropriate intervention and prevention measures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours to be determined, with set days off to be determined.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:- One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (Note: Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.)
Other Requirements:- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
