Job DescriptionThe Corporate Safety Manager is responsible for reviewing the safety standards and practices of all personnel on Vanir's projects. This individual has functional knowledge of OSHA and worker safety regulations with respect to construction operations, experience with developing Construction Site Safety Plans, Injury Illness Prevention Plans, and is knowledgeable of construction, occupational and environmental health and safety standards, and best practices. This role serves as the face of Vanir's safety programs and ensures the industry standards for safety are maintained at Vanir.
This is a corporate, office-based position (not a field role) focused on safety program oversight, process improvement initiatives, and company-wide reporting and analytics.Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Requires the experience and knowledge to observe and report on tactical day-to-day safety, health and related operations
- Requires the knowledge and ability to develop and implement site specific health and safety plans in according to legal guidelines
- Participate in fact finding cause analysis for injury/incident investigations and prepare incident and injury reports
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
- Research safety and environmental regulations and policies and institute changes to ensure compliance
- Assist with managing and updating all site and corporate safety documentation
- Compile materials for safety meetings, prepare agendas, and record meeting minutes
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
- Manage and distribute PPE
- Requires the ability to work independently with minimal guidance on the review of construction safety and potential project risk issues
- Travel up to 10%
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Environment Health and Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent technical area of study is preferred
- 6+ years of experience in the construction industry with an emphasis in safety
- Required to have basic knowledge of ground-up vertical commercial building construction (office buildings, schools, jails, courthouses, fire/police stations, or hospital type projects)
- OSHA-30 Certified
- Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies
- Valid Driver's license is required
- Ability to represent Vanir and related entities in a professional manner at all times to ensure company policies and procedures as well as compliance to all applicable laws and regulations
