Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in Automotive Purchasing
  • Post-secondary education in Business Management, Purchasing, or Materials Management
  • Strong understanding of Automotive Supplier and Customer expectations
  • Knowledge of Materials Department functions including Purchasing, Customer Service, Shipping, and Production control
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Advanced Purchasing APQP Process for assigned Programs
  • Source new components/raw materials in line with Program timing
  • Support Supplier Program launch meetings and resolve commercial issues
  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities for Direct Materials/MRO
  • Negotiate contract agreements for current and new suppliers
  • Adopt creative strategies during supplier reviews to decrease costs
  • Assist Plants with Supplier Quality and Delivery issue escalations
  • Collaborate with Sales Team on quoting and supporting new business opportunities

Full Job Description
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Corporate Buyer, based out of our Technical Centre location. The Corporate Buyer will report to the Corporate Procurement Manager.

Our ideal candidate:
  • Has five or more years of experience in Automotive Purchasing
  • Has post-secondary education in Business Management, Purchasing, or Materials Management
  • Understands Automotive Supplier and Customer expectations and requirements
  • Understands the various aspects of the Materials Department

(Purchasing, Customer Service, Shipping, Storage, Production control)
  • Will lead the Advanced Purchasing APQP Process for all assigned Programs
  • Is responsible to source all new components/raw materials in accordance to Program timing
  • Is able to support Supplier Program launch meetings & resolve any potential commercial issues
  • Can identify, evaluate & implement cost down opportunities related to Direct Materials/MRO
  • Is able to lead the negotiation process of all current and new contract agreements
  • Will support reviews with major suppliers, adopting new & creative strategies to decrease costs
  • Can support the Plants as required in the escalation of Supplier Quality & Delivery issues
  • Is able to work with the Sales Team to quote and support all new business opportunities
  • Has excellent computer skills including all Microsoft Office applications & ERP/MRP systems
  • Has superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Takes initiative and is able to identify areas for opportunity
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills

Job Details:

Salary Range: $80 - 100k annually.

Employment Type: Full-time

Work Location: 60 Washburn Drive, Kitchener, Ontario (on-site)

Hours of Work: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday to Friday
