Job Title: Corporate Information Technology Director

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Location: On-site at our office in Idaho Falls, ID

Job Summary

The Corporate Information Technology (IT) Director is a key member of Volm's leadership team responsible for the development, implementation, and delivery of IT applications and solutions across physical and remote locations in Canada and the United States. The IT Director works with leaders across the organization to develop technology plans, policies, and procedures that align with company goals and standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing IT team across multiple sites, fostering accountability, setting a positive example, and promoting a collaborative work environment.
  • Develop personnel through hiring, training and development, performance management, coaching, progressive discipline, termination, and similar personnel management activities.
  • Set goals, plan work, and allocate tasks to ensure efficient utilization of resources and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Promote a positive work environment that encourages employee engagement and retention.
  • Motivate and engage team to accomplish organizational objectives.
  • Maintain open and effective communication channels within the team and with other stakeholders.
  • Monitor team performance and address performance issues early by providing timely feedback, coaching, training, and guidance.
  • Resolve conflicts and make informed decisions to drive success.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.

Essential Duties
  • Direct strategic IT operations of the organization's computer systems, networks, programs, infrastructure, cybersecurity, help-desk support, databases, and other technologies.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices by identifying, vetting, and recommending implementation of emerging technologies and solutions.
  • Drive the planning and maintenance of the organization's data technology operations including hardware, software, and telecommunications.
  • Ensure the organization's IT systems and operations comply with government and industry regulations.
  • Ensure proper software licensing, renewals, and compliance for IT systems across the organization.
  • Mitigate system outages, monitor system performance, perform root cause analysis, and provide after-action reports when events occur.
  • Oversee the development, testing, and maintenance of a robust Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plan to minimize downtime in the event of a crisis.
  • Coordinate and implement the transition from legacy IT platforms and systems to new platforms and systems.
  • Develop, document, and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Negotiate and manage service level agreements with third-party vendors.

Education and Experience
  • Knowledge of complex information technology systems concepts, system analysis, and environment management normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in management information systems, computer science, engineering, or related field; and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Master's degree in management information systems, computer science, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in implementation and management of enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications and permissions (Microsoft 365 preferred), networking, server administration, cyber security, help desk functions, Active Directory management, software licensing, and other IT systems and operations.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience leading and developing employees in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Professional certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or Cisco preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time.
  • Proficiency in using hands, fingers, and arms for tasks such as typing and writing, grasping, pinching, and manipulating small objects.
  • Sufficient visual acuity to read documents and recognize details at close and distant ranges.
  • Ability to hear and understand verbal communication.
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, and reach low or high objects occasionally.
  • Capability to lift and carry objects of various weights up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying heavy objects occasionally.
  • Adaptability to work in varying environmental conditions, such as temperature extremes, noise, dust, or fumes, depending on the nature of the job.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and wear protective gear, including helmets, goggles, gloves, and safety shoes, as required by the job.

Travel Requirements

This position requires occasional overnight travel and occasional travel within the workday.

Driver Qualification

The ability to drive a company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle on behalf of the company is required/may be required. Inclusion in the company's driver qualification program is required to drive a company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle.

Becoming a qualified driver includes:
  • Agree to the company driving policies that apply to company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle as applicable.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver license and be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record, as evidenced by completion of a baseline motor vehicle record check and ongoing monitoring.
  • When driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company, must provide a copy of the declaration page from personal auto insurance that shows the policy dates and minimum coverage amounts ($300,000 bodily injury per accident/$100,000 property damage per accident or if driving less than 5 hours/200 miles a year $50,000 bodily injury per accident/$10,000 property damage per accident or the state minimum, whichever is more). This requirement is initially and then annually thereafter.
