Corporate Counsel to provide legal guidance across all aspects of our dynamic business operations.
Position Summary:As Corporate Counsel, you will serve as a key legal advisor to senior management, managing legal risks, compliance, contracts, and litigation. This role requires a proactive and business-minded attorney who can navigate a variety of legal areas to support the company's operations and growth.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the company's legal affairs to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, with emphasis on impact to retail automotive and powersports business.
- Involvement in all company acquisitions and dispositions.
- Provide legal advice and counsel on a broad range of business matters, including transactions, contracts, employment, insurance, real property, risk mitigation, and regulatory issues.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts and business agreements.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations, advising leadership on risks and necessary adaptations.
- Oversee litigation management and coordinate with external counsel as needed.
- Involvement with risk management initiatives and commercial insurance programs.
- Ability to function at a high level, work independently as well as with a team, and engage in direct contact with management personnel throughout the organization, including conducting on-site training sessions as needed.
- Ensure all corporate documents, filings, and communications are legally sound and timely filed, as appropriate.
Qualifications:- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice law in the state of Michigan.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing law, preferably in corporate law, commercial transactions, real estate, or within the automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of contract, employment, and regulatory law.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven success in managing multiple tasks and priorities.
- Occasional travel throughout the state of Michigan may be required.
