Full Job Description
General Description / ObjectiveThis position leads the Accounting Team of a large family-owned multi-location beef production company. Including all the accounting related functions and activities, financial reporting, allocations and reconciliations, general ledger entries and review, and financial close for eight feedyard locations, a grain facility and company cattle.
This position works across the business collaborating with operational personnel, team members at our 9 locations, commercial operations and outside auditors and professional consultants. The position reports to the CFO and will at times work in conjunction with other managers and executives at various locations including the eight feedyards.Roles and Tasks
  • Engage, motivate, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting with corporate staff as well as outside location managers.
  • Utilize and continually strive to learn technological advances in software.
  • Oversee accounting processes and ensure sound accounting controls at all locations.
  • Continuously improve accounting practices to ensure uniformity and accuracy.
  • Preparation of monthly financial reporting packet for internal and external users.
  • Review month-end closing activities at the location level and be responsible for the closing results for cattle and commodities.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and tax professionals to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and changes in accounting regulations.
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of reports accordingly.
  • Oversee payables & treasury functions.
  • Oversee lease and fixed asset accounting functions.
  • Oversee compliance with operational contracts and credit facilities.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
