Full Job Description
About the team
Zillow operates at the intersection of one of the most consequential industries in people's lives - and that visibility comes with complexity. This Manager of Corporate Communications will own a critical and specialized function within Zillow's Communications team: developing and executing communications strategy across litigation and regulatory matters.

This is a high-trust, high-autonomy role. You'll work directly with Legal, Executive Leadership and senior Comms partners to shape how Zillow responds to - and, where possible, gets ahead of - the media narratives that emerge from legal proceedings. You'll be the connective tissue between our legal strategy and our public voice, ensuring those two things are never out of sync.

You won't have direct reports, but you will lead. You'll drive cross-functional workstreams, bring clarity to ambiguous situations, and be the recognized owner of litigation communications at Zillow.

About the role

Own the litigation communications function end-to-end.

You'll develop proactive and reactive communications strategies for litigation, regulatory, and legal risk matters - anticipating how cases may evolve in the press, preparing leadership for likely lines of questioning, and ensuring Zillow speaks with consistency and confidence. Your work product is polished and precise and you exercise strong, sound judgement, ability to assess and carry strategy through to execution and independently develop work that is ready for senior executive review.

Serve as a trusted strategic partner to Legal and the C-suite.

You'll operate in rooms with General Counsel, outside counsel and C-suite executives and will need the ability to influence decision-making and escalate needs to leadership with speed and clarity. You'll translate complex legal situations into clear communication positions, proactively flag communication risks, and regularly present solutions alongside the problems you identify.

Drive cross-functional projects with rigor and clarity.

You'll lead workstreams across Legal, Communications, Policy, and Investor Relations - defining objectives, building workback plans, and establishing RACI frameworks that keep complex, fast-moving matters organized. You anticipate the questions your stakeholders haven't thought to ask yet and show up with answers.

Manage media relationships in a specialized, high-stakes context.

You'll build and maintain relationships with journalists who cover legal, regulatory, and real estate industry beats - proactively shaping narratives where possible and responding with speed and precision when inquiries arrive. You understand how to work within legal constraints while still being an effective, credible media partner.

Monitor, adapt, and apply.

You'll track legal, regulatory and media developments that could affect Zillow, bring relevant intelligence back to the team and quickly integrate lessons into how you work.

Represent Comms in cross-functional forums.

You'll carry the broader Communications team's perspective into legal strategy discussions, stakeholder planning meetings, and executive briefings - advocating for communications interests and helping other functions understand what's at stake from a public narrative standpoint.

This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia the standard base pay range for this role is $103,500.00 - $165,300.00 annually. Who you are
  • You have deep experience in media relations and have spent meaningful time managing sensitive, high-stakes communications - whether in litigation, crisis, financial, or regulatory contexts.
  • You are an exceptional writer and verbal communicator.
  • Your presence in rooms with senior leadership is confident and credible.
  • You operate well with ambiguity and competing priorities. You don't wait to be told what to do; you identify what needs to happen and move toward it.
  • You understand how legal and communications strategy intersect - and where they can create tension. You know how to navigate that tension thoughtfully.
  • You bring a "no job is too small" attitude. Owning a specialized function doesn't mean you're above the details.
  • You share feedback generously - upward, laterally, and to junior colleagues - and you seek it out with the same energy.
  • You think in systems: you understand how your work connects to team goals, company goals, and business outcomes, and you make that connection visible in how you prioritize and communicate.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 6-9 years of communications experience, with significant focus on media relations
  • Demonstrated experience managing sensitive, high-stakes communications in a legal, litigation, regulatory, or crisis context (in-house, agency, or law firm communications)
  • Proven ability to work directly with and influence senior leadership and legal counsel
  • Track record of owning complex cross-functional projects with minimal oversight
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • In-house experience at a publicly traded company
  • Familiarity with securities litigation, class action, or regulatory enforcement communications
  • Experience working alongside outside counsel and understanding the communications boundaries litigation counsel establishes
