Job Description

The Corporate Accountant will work within the accounting department and report to the Assistant Controller. This role is responsible for executing a variety of financial procedures, including quarter-end and year-end closings with a focus on job profit and financial reporting, bank reconciliations, general ledger entries, and cost transfers. This role will include working closely with the Assistant Controller and Controller. This role will be fully in-office in accordance with company policies. Looking for a motivated accountant to join a growing accounting department.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000 annually (DOE).

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Learn and serve as the backup to the main lead on the following activities:
    • Banking activities which include daily cash and investment reporting and balancing, funding accounts, monitoring incoming payments, positive pay exception decision making, initiating wire transfers, and monthly bank reconciliations.
    • Communicate cash receipts to stakeholders and apply payments.
    • Account for investment transactions monthly.
  • Manage financial accounting activities for assigned entities to include overhead expense coding approval, quarterly job profit calculations, account reconciliations, cost transfers, accrual entries, bank statement reconciliations, recording of re-occurring manual journal entries and financial statement preparation.
  • Support the Controller and Assistant Controller with annual financial audits and project-based contract compliance audits.
  • Provide outstanding service through timely and effective follow-ups and communications with both internal and external customers.
  • Support departmental projects, ad-hoc assignments and data requests as needed.


Qualifications:

Position Related Skills
  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point and Teams) and have a general understanding of working within a computer network. Strong MS Excel Skills (pivot tables, V-lookups, etc.) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards or similar ERP platform preferred.
  • Experience using US Bank Single Point or Clearwater Investment Management software a plus.
  • Capability to thrive in a deadline-oriented environment, delivering quality work within specified timeframes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and collaborate effectively across various departments.
  • Ability to work well and maintain a cooperative attitude through high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work while frequently interrupted by phone calls and questions on work in progress.
  • Must be a strong team player, self-starter, flexible, and be able to collaborate well with various personnel, with minimal instruction, and minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to work well in a large professional setting. Patience and professionalism are essential.


Professional Experience and Education
  • At least two to three (2-3) years of similar accounting experience required.
  • Working understanding of GAAP.
  • Experience in similar accounting role within the construction industry is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field of study, required.


Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Standing/Walking/Sitting: workday is combination of standing, walking and sitting.
  • Must be able to climb stairs: 5% of day.
  • Hands/Arms: constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use.
  • Sight: visual acuity in near, mid, and far range vision. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination.
  • Hearing: sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone.
  • Speech: sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the telephone.
  • Lift/Carry: Up to 20lbs. Computer/drawings - minimal.
  • Bending/Twisting: minimal.
  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: minimal.
  • Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail required.
  • Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments.

  • Must be able to plan and organize work.
  • Must possess strong organizational and computer use skills and have a high level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret construction related documentation and communicate with coworkers.
