The Shapedown BC Ethnic Chinese Program Coordinator oversees the development and implementation of a culturally adapted Shapedown BC Program and Clinic for the Ethnic Chinese Population in the Vancouver Coastal Health Region. The program will be delivered in Cantonese and Mandarin.
This position coordinates all program activities including marketing, promotions, program outreach and community liaison, budget and case management functions. Provides work direction and support to program staff in the area of policy and procedures, program planning, evidence-based best practice and training. Provides direct clinical care to children, youth and families attending the Shapedown BC Program including nutrition assessments and care plans, individual counseling and group facilitation. Working collaboratively with the health care team promotes and participates in evaluation research and coordinates the development of community models, protocols and educational materials for the treatment of obesity disorders benefiting from nutrition intervention.
QualificationsEducation & Experience- Graduation from an approved program in Dietetics and successful completion of a recognized dietetic internship program.
- Three (3) years' recent related clinical dietetic experience in a child health setting working in the area of weight management counseling, including one (1) year experience in a leadership and/or supervisory role involving program planning, implementation and evaluation, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Comprehensive knowledge of pediatric obesity, disordered eating, and human metabolism.
- Ability to develop evidence based practice guidelines based on current literature and research.
- Ability to provide education, teaching and training to others.
- Ability to work with a diverse patient population.
- Fluency with the Chinese language (Mandarin and Cantonese dialects preferred).
- Working knowledge of budget planning and variance analysis.
- Ability to provide work direction, organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interprofessional environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the ethnic Chinese target population, colleagues and supervisors, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work in a community development framework across sectors within a community setting.
- Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
