Summary:To provide ELA curriculum and instructional support to secondary school administrators, K-12 librarians, secondary ELA school teaching staff, and the community.
Qualifications: - Virginia postgraduate professional teaching license
- Master's Degree in curriculum and instruction, administration and supervision, or related field
- Minimum of five years successful teaching experience at the secondary level
- Administrative or supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working with all categories of employees and the public
- Extensive knowledge of best practices in ELA; the Virginia Literacy Act; and the Science of Reading
Essential Functions:Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.
- Demonstrates expertise and maintains competence in secondary ELA and tiered systems of support.
- Provides support and coaching to teachers, coaches, and administrators for the delivery of an effective instructional program.
- Facilitates the development and implementation of curriculum, professional learning, and instructional programs.
- Coordinates district-wide programs as assigned.
- Uses data to assess program efficacy and to drive instructional improvement.
- Monitors federal and state requirements, and supervises the implementation of changes to curriculum or instructional programs.
- Researches and evaluates evidence-based practices to support instructional programs.
- Monitors and evaluates instructional programs and achievement of division objectives.
- Prepares reports on the effectiveness of efficiency of the instructional program.
- Makes recommendations toward issues concerning textbooks, resources, budgeting, and organizational priorities in support of the division's strategic plan.
- Assists with the recruiting and interviewing of instructional personnel.
- Other duties as assigned through the immediate supervisor.
Pay Rate: The salary range is $93,539-$154,033
Contract:Full time / 12 months / 245 days
