A Typical DayThe Dairy Relations Coordinator serves as a crucial link between dairy farmers and Hilmar, focusing on the production of high-quality milk and providing information about policies, pricing, government regulations, and industry trends. Strong writing and editing skills will be required. Building and maintaining strong relationships with both dairy farmers and the community is essential. This role will also involve addressing issues related to milk quality and collaborating with Hilmar production facilities to address any shrinkage or quality concerns. Promoting Hilmar within the community is a key aspect of this position. Most days are not driven by one large project; they are driven by many small follow-ups that matter to dairies in the region.
Job Responsibilities- Support Hilmar dairy farmers through regular communication, farm visits, relationship building, and timely follow-up on dairy needs.
- Monitor milk quality, coordinate sampling follow-up, communicate results, and help resolve quality, shrinkage, or production concerns.
- Prepare producer communications, including newsletters, quality reports, red flag notices, and relevant industry updates.
- Support compliance with Hilmar, state, federal, transportation, and FARM program requirements.
- Coordinate with internal teams, plants, haulers, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to address transport, sampling, and operational issues.
- Assist with farmer roundtables, farm tours, dairy recruitment, rotating on-call support, and other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need- High School Diploma and 5 years related experience OR associate's degree and 3 years' experience OR Bachelor's degree plus 1 years related experience in the dairy industry.
- Proficient in computer applications and excel.
- Strong listening skills and ability to follow and implement instructions.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and sound judgment.
- Ability to manage job responsibilities efficiently and within deadlines.
What Will Put You Ahead- Bachelor's degree in communications, agriculture economics or animal science. Plus, five years related experience OR Master's degree plus one-year related experience in the dairy industry
- Proven ability to create, edit and publish written content.
- Working knowledge of Web-based Data Reporting a plus.
- Knowledge of dairy regulations and their implementation.
- Understanding of issues related to milk production and transportation.
Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentThe role has periods of time when the work environment is sedentary and conducted in an office environment balanced with frequent occasions that require prolonged walking or standing, lifting/ carrying/handling moderate weight objects on a regular basis. Is required to wear PPE and have a regular presence in manufacturing and warehouse environments in both temperature controlled and uncontrolled locations. Salary Range: USD ($75,539.00 - $113,309.00) ANN
