Summary Position Summary The Coordinator- Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) oversees the development, maintenance, optimization, and support of laboratory information systems, interfaces, and related applications. This role serves as the primary liaison between the laboratory, Information Services, vendors, and operational stakeholders to ensure efficient system performance, regulatory compliance, and effective data management.
The Coordinator provides expertise in laboratory informatics, supports system implementations and upgrades, develops reporting solutions, and delivers education and training to laboratory staff.
Key Responsibilities - Build, configure, maintain, and optimize laboratory applications, tests, and workflows within the LIS.
- Develop and maintain instrument, middleware, and external system interfaces.
- Create and maintain Cerner rules, test catalogs, and reference laboratory network interfaces.
- Develop laboratory reports, database queries, and analytics to support operational, quality, financial, and regulatory initiatives.
- Coordinate system upgrades, implementations, testing, and issue resolution.
- Train and support laboratory staff on LIS functionality and enhancements.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the laboratory, Information Services, vendors, and external departments.
- Maintain project documentation and communicate system updates and status reports.
- Ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA, CMS, TJC, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field preferred. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: Five to seven (5-7) years of laboratory information systems, laboratory operations, or healthcare IT experience required.
Required Certification: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) certification.
