In this position...
This position will support Cooling Hose Technical Specialist and the global thermal systems teams in Coolant hose, tube and joint design and verification. Coolant hoses are a significant contributor to cost of quality within the company. This position will optimize hose, tube and joint designs...with a focus on continuing to improve quality by implementing best practices, collaborating extensively with vehicle operations, institutionalizing lessons learned and driving design controls further upstream by advancing state of the art for predicting flexible hose motion/loads.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...
• Global core engineer for coolant hoses/tubes.
• Responsible for supporting Technical Specialist with creation and maintenance of the Core Engineering Documents (FMA Documents, Requirements, ES's, and Test Procedures, etc.)
• Support cooling hose joint requirements (including interfacing with ergonomics), associated tools (e.g., HJOINT), and program sign-off.
• Collaborate with Vehicle operations to improve quality, align on and meet ergonomic requirements and improve state of the art for error proofing
• Work closely with other flexible components (e.g., EDS, Fuel, brake lines) to develop best practices for clearance requirements, sleeve compatibility, DPA Signoff (e.g., clip selection, sleeve compatibility, clearance checks, motion modeling)
• Support technical assessment of suppliers for new technology components including qualification of local suppliers for global supplier localization efforts.
• Optimize designs for Cost reduction while maintaining quality performance.
• Support pre-program team initial cost estimates, engineering assumptions, and benchmarking.
• Coordinate the implementation of new suppliers and technologies using the Ford GTDS process with efficient program management techniques.
• Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks during new supplier implementation.
• Review and approve DV (Design Verification) and PV (Product Validation) plans
• Engage in component tech clubs and core process development to facilitate improved program delivery
• Capture lessons learned/PRA and develop updated test plans, requirements, and specifications.
• Hands on troubleshooting of components and related sub-system and vehicle issues
• Support resolution of manufacturing issues
• Manage coolant hose and tube SREA approvals.
• Lead resolution of cross carline warranty issues
• Provide technical support for cost reduction ideas and quality issues

Qualifications

You'll have...
• 3+ years of experience Thermal System Components/Subsystem design or related experience
• in Hose, Tube and joint design and development.
• Knowledge of Hose, Metal and Plastic Tube, and joint design (clamp, QC, and designs.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Systems, etc.)
• Master of Engineering preferred.
• Experience and/or knowledge of the following: authoring engineering specifications, foundation documents (DFMEA, DVP, FEDE, etc...)
• Design and Release experience, WERS knowledge and vehicle launch experience a plus
• CAE/CFD knowledge/experience a plus
• Project Management knowledge in planning and executing projects, agile methodology and risk management

This position is a salary grade 5 to a salary grade 8. Salaries may range from $65,100-$166,200.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
