Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical degree or work experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of controls engineering experience, preferably in material handling or manufacturing.
  • Experience with retrofit projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead control systems design ensuring timely project milestones and compliance with standards.

  • Review contract documentation and create detailed design documentation for control solutions.
  • Support project installation, commissioning, and testing of control systems, with frequent travel as required.
  • Develop technical documentation including control system specifications and user manuals.

Controls Retrofit Engineer (M/F/D)*

The Controls Retrofit Engineer is responsible for leading complex retrofit engineering projects including control system design, control panel engineering, PLC, HMI, and robotics programming, and providing site start-up support of material-handling equipment and automation equipment for the material handling, manufacturing, and logistics industries.

What you'll be handling
  • Serves as subject matter expert on retrofit control systems and electrical engineering principles and provides expert knowledge and guidance to colleagues as needed.
  • Provides control systems design technical leadership in a matrixed environment, ensuring on-time schedule, performance, project milestones, customer deliverables, and compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Applies electrical engineering principles to analyze, propose, design, program, test and troubleshoot control systems associated within complex material handling systems.
  • Reviews contract documentation and customer specifications and creates equipment specifications and detailed design documentation for the development of appropriate control solutions.
  • Supports realization team on project installation, commissioning and testing of control systems, traveling frequently as required.
  • Develops technical documentation including control system specifications and engineering procedures and assists with creation of user manuals.
What you'll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of controls engineering experience, preferably in a material-handling, industrial, or manufacturing environment. (Retrofit experience preferred.)
  • Advanced knowledge of PLC ladder logic and programming and proficiency in Siemens, Rockwell and Allen Bradley PLCs.
  • Thorough understanding of fieldbus systems and I/O equipment, e.g., Profibus, Profinet, ASi, TCP/IP.
  • Advanced understanding of other controls automation-related equipment, e.g. Bar code scanners, HMIs, Variable frequency drives.
