When you join Design Group as a Controls Engineer, you are joining a team that will challenge you and position you for growth. In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world’s leading companies solve their most difficult problems. You will work with our Control Systems Integration group and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to develop the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.

What You’ll Do

This person will be responsible for providing support within the 24x7 center operations. The primary focus is to provide HMI and PLC technical support for customers on systems covered by an active 24x7 support contract.  Troubleshoot existing systems to address issues and ensure operational performance of the supported equipment.

·         Understand, troubleshoot and potentially modify PLC ladder logic for existing automated systems using PLC Controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, Device Net and Profibus.

·         Troubleshoot and support variable frequency drives.

·         Act as escalation support for the controls engineering team; appropriately escalate downtime situations to leadership for support to restore equipment operation.

·         Perform and utilize 24x7 center system assessments to identify opportunities in improving utilization of systems/equipment.

·         Provide detailed information regarding support calls such as: troubleshooting steps, root cause analysis and ultimate resolution.

·         Communicate technical issues and project timeline with building leadership, operations and the maintenance team.

·         Perform periodic on-site assessments of automation equipment and 24x7 support systems.

·         This position will require the need for domestic travel to customer sites (< 25% travel).

 

What You’ll Bring

·         Must have demonstrated experience using RSLogix 5000 to troubleshoot, program and modify PLC code. Lack of RSLogix5000 will disqualify the candidate for this role.

·         Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting of 24VDC up to 480V 3phase systems.

·         Systems Controls knowledge and programming experience using RSlogix5000

·         Field Service Engineering Experience

·         Experience with advance automation control systems

·         Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and modify the following: PLC failures, device failures, Control Network components, HMI components, Motor Controls and starters, VFD’s and standard electrical components

·         Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and modify program HMI components

·         Strong reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills

·         Ability to Interpret and modify mechanical/electrical drawings and P&ID's

·         Ability to identify, maintain and utilize SCADA Systems

·         Ability and willingness to train other employees with lesser skills

·         Project Management experience a plus

·         Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
