Weekend Controls Engineer (36 Hours Worked, Paid for 40)Hartmann Packaging is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Weekend Controls Engineer to support our manufacturing operations. This position is designed for professionals seeking a unique schedule that provides an excellent work-life balance while maintaining full-time compensation. The successful candidate will work a 36-hour weekend schedule and be paid for 40 hours.
This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys working independently, solving complex automation and controls challenges, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. As the primary Controls Engineer supporting weekend operations, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving the reliability, efficiency, and performance of our automated systems.
As a Controls Engineer, you will analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical and automation-related problems. You will also lead and complete engineering projects related to electrical controls, programming, and process improvements. This role requires the ability to work autonomously with limited supervision while collaborating effectively with operations, maintenance, and project teams.
Primary Responsibilities:- Provide automation support for plant process and equipment.
- Collaborate with the operation, maintenance, and project teams.
- Develop and Design PLC (Allen Bradley), HMI (Allen Bradley), and SCADA (GE Proficy IFIX, Factory Talk SE) changes as needed.
- Modify existing applications as requested by process/operations team to provide reports and data required to increase operating efficiencies and reduce downtime.
- Provide support to resolve issues and provide training.
- Maintain and troubleshoot VFD's
- Maintain documentation and updated PLC and robot programs.
- Design and maintain electrical schematics using AutoCAD format for any equipment changes.
- Promoting and demonstrating Hartmann core values and leadership behavior.
Skills and Qualifications:- University Degree in Electrical Engineering. College Certified Engineering Technologist will be considered.
- Three to Five years of experience in a manufacturing environment in Automation controls
- Must possess excellent computer skills
- PLC, Servo, & HMI Programming
- RSLogix 5000 and Studio 5000
- Allen-Bradley FactoryTalk ME & SE
- 2D CAD Design
- ABB and Fanuc Robot Programming is an asset
- Ethernet IP Experience
- Experience with the development of control system network architectures.
- Excellent analytical, technical, problem-solving, research and teamwork skills.
- Organizational skills - able to manage projects with minimal supervision.
