CONTROLS ENGINEER

THE HALLSTAR COMPANY - INDUSTRIAL

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Engineering Manager and based in Bedford Park, Illinois, this position is a mix of field and office work. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, troubleshooting abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities. Teamwork, strong written and verbal communication, attention to details and proactivity are also important. This role will have responsibilities requiring domestic travel.

The Responsibilities
  • Provide first level field support for plant instrumentation and controls as necessary.
  • Manage repair or replacement work for components where warranted.
  • Update and create DCS equipment/control modules involving SFCs and FBDs.
  • Update and create workflows using C# in an MES batch system.
  • Maintain control system IT/OT assets, including PC software updates and other basic maintenance activities.
  • Perform routine calibration and validation work for plant instrumentation and controls.
  • Complete DCS instrumentation configuration tasks, including I/O configuration, module configuration, and documentation.
  • Manage small individual projects related to the subject matter focus of the role.
  • Assist process engineering team with instrumentation hardware specification and selection for project applications.
  • Assist the North Carolina plant with the same responsibilities listed above. Up to 20% travel required.

The Requirements
  • 4-Year Engineering Degree - Electrical or Chemical Preferred
  • Experience in instrumentation and control systems, preferably in a chemical manufacturing context.
  • Experience in programming, preferably with C# and Emerson DeltaV or equivalent DCS environment.
  • Experience with Savigent/Symphony AI's MES system
