Manufacturing Controls Engineer 1Location: Garland, TX On-Site
Schedule: Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00 AM-5:00 PM 24/7 facility support with an on-call rotation approximately one weekend every 4-5 weeks. Most on-call support can be handled remotely; occasional on-site response may be required.
Salary Range: $80,000-$83,000 annually (depending on experience)

Required Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant hands-on industrial plant support experience in a manufacturing, chemical, heavy industrial, or comparable operations environment, along with formal training or at least 1 year of experience implementing PLC and/or HMI systems.
About This OpportunityBlue United Sourcing is partnering with a global manufacturing leader to identify a Manufacturing Controls Engineer I for its Garland, Texas facility. This is an opportunity to join an engineering team supporting a large, complex manufacturing operation undergoing significant expansion.
The Controls Engineer will provide hands-on support for day-to-day plant operations while also contributing to capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives. The engineering team manages more than 20 capital projects annually in addition to ongoing plant improvements, making this role an important addition to the site's long-term engineering capacity.
This position is approximately 40% plant-floor support and 60% office/project work. On the plant floor, you'll troubleshoot controls, hardware, and process issues while partnering directly with operations, maintenance, quality, and other plant teams. Office time is primarily dedicated to planning and executing capital projects and continuous improvement work.
Responsibilities- Utilize Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) knowledge to optimize plant control and quality systems.
- Provide hands-on controls and troubleshooting support for day-to-day manufacturing operations.
- Analyze plant processes and design and implement improvements.
- Troubleshoot hardware, controls, and process-related issues.
- Support the planning and execution of capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Optimize manufacturing processes to reduce costs, improve productivity, and reduce cycle times.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to identify and resolve production and process issues.
- Identify training needs and develop training materials and standard operating procedures supporting continuous improvement methodologies.
- Identify and communicate obstacles that may prevent production requirements from being achieved.
- Recommend process improvements, training solutions, and capital expenditures where appropriate.
- Support small project teams and collaborate with operations during design, construction, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Maintain established quality and safety standards.
Requirements- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Bachelor's degree or higher OR at least four years of work experience in engineering.
- At least one year of relevant experience in a manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or operations environment.
- Formal training in or at least one year of experience implementing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and/or Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
- Demonstrated experience supporting industrial plant operations and troubleshooting controls, equipment, hardware, or process issues.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing and/or industrial environment.
- 3+ years of experience implementing PLC and/or HMI systems.
- Previous experience working as a Controls Engineer in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience applying continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, or Transactional Lean.
