Direct Reports: Financial Accounting Manager, Billing Manager, Travel Accounting Manager, Accounts Payable Manager

Position Purpose

The Controller is a vital member of the Finance Department who partners with the CFO to maximize enterprise value through accurate financial reporting and strategic participation in company activities. This role ensures the integrity of financial systems and provides the SLT with timely, data-driven insights to guide business decisions. Manages the needs of being an ESOP and financial requirements.

Core Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting & Integrity: Oversee all accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports in accordance with GAAP.
  • Strategic & Tactical Participation: Collaborate directly with leadership on strategic planning, providing financial modeling and risk assessment for tactical and operational initiatives. Making sure ROIs are met.
  • Senior Leadership Reporting: Prepare and present periodic financial results and key performance indicators (KPIs) to the CFO and SLT, highlighting variances and growth opportunities.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee day-to-day finance functions including accounts payable/receivable, ensuring robust control environments.
  • Systems Management: Maintain and improve the integrity of underlying financial systems and ERP tools to streamline reporting and enhance data visibility.
  • Monthly Close: Maintain close calendar and processes while creating continuous improvements to shrink monthly close timeline, through ERP enhancement or process improvements.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and provide continuous monthly/quarterly re-forecasting to align with company goals.
  • Audit/ESOP: Maintain financials with no audit adjustments and manage external audit processes with external auditors for three audits (Financial, ESOP and 401K). Also maintain ESOP standards and valuation requirements.
  • Treasury: Manage checking accounts and cash investments. Regular cash forecasting and DSO/DPO, and banking relationships.
  • ERP Finance Product Owner: Experience with ERP tools and understanding of enhancements (Ie. Central Command) working with IT or similar changes needed to improve close.

  • Financial Execution: Maintain a close schedule and drive efficiencies while providing accurate financials within compliance.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Ability to act as a "Business Advisor" to the CFO and SLT, translating complex data into actionable strategies.
  • Management and people development: Direct reports and leadership over employee talent and development for finance area. Maintain a high functioning finance team.
  • Precision & Ethics: High standard for data integrity and meticulous attention to detail in financial record-keeping.
  • Travel Management Company Expertise: (Preferred) Familiarity with corporate travel complexities, such as commission tracking, vendor settlements (e.g., ARC), and multi-leg expense management.


Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; Master's/MBA preferred.
  • Certification: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation.
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or controller-level role.
  • ERP: Experience with Unit4 /Central Command preferred.
