Full Job Description
Performs advanced and supervisory-level accounting and financial management work. Work involves directing and overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll accounting, cash and banking reconciliations, fixed assets, grant and contract accounting, audit preparation, and internal controls. Responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, timeliness, and compliance of the organization's financial records and reports. Works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and provides financial leadership to accounting staff. Works with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

EXAMPLE OF WORK PERFORMED
  • Oversees and maintains appropriate internal controls for cash receipts and disbursements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, purchasing, and other financial processes.
  • Provide oversight or necessary supervision for other business division units in the absence of the CFO.
  • Reviews financial activity and analyzes significant variances, unusual transactions, budget performance, and financial trends; communicates issues to the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Assists the Chief Financial Officer with annual budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow analysis, financial planning, and preparation of financial information for executive leadership and the Board.
  • Oversees the maintenance of fixed asset records, capitalization, depreciation, inventory-related accounting, and capital expenditure activity.
  • Reviews payroll accounting and reconcile payroll activity, payroll liabilities, benefits, and program or funding allocations to the general ledger.
  • Establishes, implements, and maintains efficient accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls; recommends improvements, adaptations, or revisions.
  • Works with billing, program, grants, human resources, information technology, and other departments to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes.
  • Audits general ledger entries and related cash, purchasing, travel, payroll, and other financial transactions for accuracy and compliance.
  • May design and consult with information technology staff in the development or enhancement of financial systems and reporting applications.
Experience:
9+ years' experience in accounting/business industry. Non-profit/government experience and GAAP/GASB familiarity preferred.
Two years supervisory experience preferred.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting/business required. CPA candidate preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the principles of collection and accounting, and of the rules and regulations governing reimbursement for agency services. Skill in resolving problems; in reviewing and evaluating options; in implementing solutions; in interviewing techniques; and in the use of general office equipment, computers, and applicable computer software. Ability to learn about and implement trauma-informed care practices within the scope of work for the position.
Must have and maintain a level of general health that permits the performance of the job duties and ability to maintain regular attendance as set forth in Center policies and procedures.
