The Controller will lead the financial functions for Member Coops, establishing an accounting department of internal controls and checks and balances.
Job DutiesReview established infrastructure to identify areas of improvement and opportunity
Oversee the month end close process and produce monthly financials
Attend board meetings, presenting the financials in a digestible manner
Manage the balance sheet, making upper management aware of any potential issues
Coordinate external audits and work with outside CPA on taxes
Annual insurance renewals
Benefits Administration from an accounting viewpoint, understanding how benefits impact the balance sheet
Monitor the company's margins to help inform buying decisions and create efficiencies
Create reporting dashboards for other department leaders, communicating financial information which impacts their departments
Combine with Human Resources to manage payroll, ensuring that people receive their checks on time
Budgeting and Forecasting
Continually identify areas of improvement and cost savings
QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Other Required
5-10 years in an accounting leadership role
Cooperative or Agriculture experience is preferred, but not required
CPA not required
Work EnvironmentJob functions are performed in an office environment
While traveling may have contact with hazardous materials and drive/travel and work in adverse weather conditions
