SUMMARY:
The Controller is a management position responsible for overseeing the daily operational and compliance aspects of the Finance Department. Perform all job responsibilities as noted below including the daily supervision of Finance employee(s), in a manner that will ensure compliance with regulatory issues as well as all Credit Union policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
• Ensures liquidity levels meet the Credit Union's needs while maximizing income.
• Ensures the maintenance and accuracy of the ALLL model.
• Works directly with ALM vendor to produce ALM/IRR reporting for analysis and strategy development.
• Provide back-up for completing the NCUA 5300 Call Report.
• Develops investment strategies, conducts investment activities and monitors the portfolio for optimal performance and compliance with the approved Investment Policy.
• Ensures investments are accounted for in according with GAAP.
• Ensures the investment reports for management and the Board of Directors are adequate.
• Interfaces with outside auditors and NCUA examiners. Ensures the timely and accurate preparation of audit/exam documents as requested.
• Prepares the operating budget for the Finance Department and assists with the preparation of the credit union's annual operating budget.
• Prepares and provides accurate and timely finance reports for management and the Board of Directors.
• Ensures procedures are maintained and kept current for department and related activities.
• Meet established department goals with minimal supervision; update supervisor/leader on all major projects, employee issues and goal progress.
• Ensure Finance Department employment needs are met including timekeeping, annual performance evaluations, scheduling, training, motivation and coaching in an atmosphere of continuous improvement.
• Perform job interview/hiring process for employee vacancies as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited university required. Advanced degree in a business related field preferred, plus a minimum of five years' of progressive management experience in a financial institution or corporation of a similar or larger size. Requires the ability to lead and supervise others. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with others is essential.
