Job Summary and Qualifications

Organizes, directs and staffs the Accounting Department in a manner commensurate with the scope of service offered.

Supervises the day-to-day activities of the Accounting staff including ensuring their duties are performed accurately and timely.

Creates and fosters an environment that encourages open communication within the department and between hospital management and fiscal.

Coordinates completion of the year-end Tax Work-paper package. Responsible for the preparation and review of any items associated with Medicare year-end items.

Coordinates the completion of Sarbanes Oxley/Internal Controls Hospital Level Key Control requirements. Also ensures Hospital is compliant with all areas of HCA Sarbanes Oxley 404 requirements.

Ensures balance sheet and income statement accuracy.

Establishes productivity goals for the Fiscal department and aides in productivity management for the facility including FPC plans, staffing grids, missed target discussions and budgeting.

Assists with and helps coordinate with CFO/ACFO on the budget preparation.

Ensures timely submission of monthly, quarterly and semiannual report requirements by Division.

Responsible for completion of assigned survey, review, audit response, hospital-related project/ research.

Leads the performance and creation of ad hoc data mining reports using Business Objects as necessary for daily, monthly, and yearly assignments.

Responsible for the cross-training for the entire Fiscal staff. At least one staff, preferably two, will be required to perform as a backup for any major functions that are performed by the Fiscal department.

Other duties as assigned by CFO/ACFO.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree Accounting or Finance - Required

Master's degree Business Administration in Accounting or Finance - Preferred

3+ years of experience in Accounting - Required

5+ years of experience in Accounting with 1-2 years' experience supervising accountants preferably in a healthcare setting - Preferred

Certified Public Accountant - Preferred
