Job Summary

Development of Electro-Mechanical Control Systems using quantitative methods to solve problems for internal and external Caterpillar customers through integrating mechanical and electronic components and systems through control algorithm implementation and optimization using data from sensors, on-board models, and product analytics. To successfully lead a team to solve a technical problem or create critical component(s) and systems or processes within budget, while meeting the requirements of the internal or external customer.

What You Will Do:

  • ECM system development for New Product Inter-duction (NPI) and related Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) projects
  • Electronic hardware development knowledge and software awareness to guide the team through platform software development to meet program timelines.
  • Provide leadership to the team leading them to root cause and corrective actions as CPI issues arise this role will be seen as the engine system expert
  • Interpersonal, leadership, technical knowledge, and strong communication skills are required.
  • Project team leaders experience to obtain resources and cooperation needed to ensure the success of the team
  • Competency managing vision & purpose, decision quality, and negotiating is required.
  • The incumbent would set strategy at the project level. The project would solve problems for a single technology, component, product, or process.

Degree Requirement

Engineering Degree from accredited university

What You Will Have:

Communicating Complex Concepts: Extensive knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.

Technology Advising: Working knowledge of effective advisory methods and ability to provide valued information and advice to clients regarding products, technologies, services and solutions for a specific technology domain.

Project Management: Working knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Embedded Systems: Extensive knowledge of embedded systems and their applications; ability to develop embedded systems with varying levels of complexity to control the operations of the machine it is embedded within.

Requirements Analysis: Extensive knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

Product Development: Extensive knowledge of methodologies, tools and techniques of product development; ability to design, build and manage manufacturing of new products.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Advanced Engineering Degree
  • Diesel engine development knowledge
  • Electronics hardware development experience
  • Embedded Software controls experience (development, validation)
  • Electronic controls Module development (ECM) design/development

Additional Information:

• Up to 10% travel expected – Domestic and International

• This position requires working onsite five days a week.

• Relocation is available for this position.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00
