About the Job

We are seeking a Control System Engineer to join our Deer Park, TX team. As the DCS/PLC Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, commissioning, and operations of the control systems and associated process control networks within Clean Harbors. DCS/PLC proprietary systems, including Rockwell, Emerson DeltaV, ABB, Wonderware Suite, Siemens, and/or Canary.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of the Controls Systems team to ensure operational readiness of Clean Harbors sites.
  • Proactively manage controls production environment and take preventative actions to avoid business impacting incidents.
  • Implement logic changes to minimize plant trips and improve plant reliability. Establish a management of change process to ensure logic changes are controlled and risk assessed to ensure plant integrity is not compromised.
  • Coaching operations and other technical personnel on the concepts and use of control strategies.
  • Process control algorithm development, prototyping and implementation.
  • Organize, design, and carry out the development, implementation and maintenance of Basic Process Control and Process Optimization.
  • Develop multi-year strategy to standardize control systems across 20+ sites.
  • Establish and manage goals, reporting needs, key performance indicators and dashboards for control system and health.
  • Provide remote support for 20+ sites for customer sites.
  • Lead the prompt resolution of control system performance issues through the application of strong critical thinking skills.
  • Work with automation vendors to specify, design and commission new and upgraded control and SIS systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the control system infrastructure including project activity to renew and evolve the DCS platforms.
  • Develop a business level solution for process historians to eliminate data silos and organize data flows.
  • Oversee reliability and maintenance of DCS/SIS hardware and software.
  • Develop systems to maintain backups of critical systems.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Automation, or Instrumentation preferred)
  • Experience 5-7 years controls experience preferred
  • Primary Skill Sets desired - FactoryTalk(software), Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLC's(hardware), networking, and Wonderware,
  • Preferred Skills- Canary Historian, DeltaV, ABB/Siemen, AMS, OSIsoft PI, Aspen, SCADA, SIS, Instrumentation specification
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Up to date with current technology
  • Metrics based on IBP
  • Communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb (Survey facility)
  • Up to 20% travel and Other Requirements
