Full Job Description
This leader will drive the design, execution, and evolution of an integrated risk and control ecosystem across process ownership, risk and control self-assessments, control design, control assurance, issues management, new business initiatives, vendor oversight, regulatory readiness, and ongoing governance. The role will serve as a senior interface with business leaders, product owners, process owners, technology, operations, legal, compliance, second-line risk partners, internal and external audit, and key third-party providers, including processors, sponsor banks, networks, fraud vendors, servicing partners, and Banking-as-a-Service providers.

Core Responsibilities
  • Help drive the risk and control strategy for Cash Management, debit card, money movement, digital payments, bank network activities, servicing, and related operational processes, including process ownership, control ownership, assurance activities, issue management, governance, and business accountability.
  • Design, implement, and evolve scalable control frameworks that align with enterprise risk appetite, regulatory expectations, operational resilience standards, client protection objectives, and business priorities.
  • Provide front-line control management guidance and execution support to business, product, technology, operations, legal, compliance, risk, fraud, audit, and third-party partners across payment operations, disputes, error resolution, fraud, vendor dependencies, and emerging payment risks.
  • Support new and evolving payment capabilities, including next-generation payment rails, real-time payments, managed program models, Banking-as-a-Service arrangements, and enabling technologies, by embedding controls into product design, launch readiness, operating model decisions, vendor expectations, and governance routines.
  • Assess the design and effectiveness of existing and future-state controls supporting payment products, cash management processes, and transaction flows; identify gaps, recommend enhancements, support remediation, and evaluate risk exposure using enterprise risk management concepts.
  • Apply working knowledge of consumer protection, payments, and transaction-related regulations and expectations, including Regulation E, dispute handling, error resolution, and related operational controls.
  • Champion control automation, data-driven monitoring, continuous improvement, and emerging technologies to strengthen execution, increase transparency, reduce manual risk and raise control maturity across Cash Management initiatives.


Qualifications
  • Minimum of eight years of related experience in control management, operational risk, payments, financial services, internal audit, or compliance.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience required; graduate degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cash management, money movement, debit cards, real-time payments, digital payments, bank networks, sponsor banks, and Banking-as-a-Service models.
  • Experience designing, assessing, or overseeing controls for payment operations, fraud prevention, transaction monitoring, disputes, error resolution, vendor oversight, and operational resilience.
  • Working knowledge of consumer protection, payments, and transaction-related regulations, including Regulation E, dispute handling, error resolution, fraud and scam management, KYC, AML, and PCI DSS.
  • Deep expertise in risk management, control frameworks, control assurance, issue management, governance routines, and risk and control self-assessments.
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing, communication, analytical, and data literacy skills.
  • Relevant payments, risk certifications, FINRA SIE & Series 7 a plus.
