Job Description Summary
GE Vernova is seeking a highly qualified Contract Manager to join our Hydro Power business and support the contractual management of major hydroelectric projects in North America. This role will be office-based in Brossard, Québec, or remote, and will report to the regional North America Contract Management Leader.

This position will focus on the contractual management of hydro project execution supporting project leadership through disciplined contract administration, commercial risk management, change management, correspondence, and stakeholder coordination.

Contract Management at GE Vernova is fully integrated into project management processes and principles, following an end-to-end approach that covers bidding, negotiation, and project contract execution. Contract Managers act as commercial experts throughout all project phases, particularly during contract setup, management of contractual issues, customer and supplier relationships, deviations, claims, disputes, and insurance matters.

The successful candidate will combine solid project contract management fundamentals with strong judgment, organization, and communication skills. This role is well suited to a professional who can operate effectively in a matrixed project environment, support complex project obligations, and protect GE Vernova's contractual and commercial interests while enabling successful project delivery.

Job Description

Your Impact

- Support the contractual management of the hydro project from a back-office contract management perspective, in close coordination with project leadership and site teams.

- Protect GE Vernova's contractual and commercial position through disciplined contract administration, timely notices, change management, and risk tracking.

- Help ensure contractual obligations, rights, milestones, assumptions, exclusions, and deliverables are clearly understood and managed throughout project execution.

- Contribute to the successful execution of the project while remaining available to support other hydroelectric projects across North America as needed.

- Promote contractual rigor, transparency, collaboration, and proactive risk management across the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Contract Management

- Manage contractual aspects of assigned projects from the bid phase or contract handover through execution, close-out, and warranty, depending on the stage of project involvement.

- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of project-specific contract management plans.

- Interpret contractual rights, obligations, assumptions, exclusions, deliverables, milestones, remedies, and commercial positions, and communicate their implications clearly to the project team.

- Draft, review, and tailor commercial and contractual communications in alignment with project requirements and the applicable contract framework.

- Participate in the negotiation and finalization of contract amendments, change orders, and other project-related commercial instruments with customers, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors, as applicable.

Project Leadership

- Act as the contractual resource for the project, in coordination with project management team, the site-based team, technical functions, project controls, sourcing, quality, and other functions.

- Support the administration of the prime contract and related project agreements from execution through close-out and warranty.

- Help establish and maintain contract management procedures, including correspondence protocols, notice requirements, tracking mechanisms, escalation paths, and document retention practices.

- Review project events, correspondence, and execution developments to identify contractual implications, required actions, and emerging risks.

- Prepare and manage formal notices, reservations of rights, change requests, amendments, claims support documentation, and other contractual submissions.

- Maintain robust contractual records, registers, logs, and trackers related to notices, changes, obligations, risks, milestones, deliverables, and key commercial events.

- Support the preparation of commercial status summaries, contractual dashboards, and leadership updates on open issues, watchpoints, and major deadlines.

Change Management, Claims, and Risk Management

- Identify contractual risks, opportunities, deviations, and key watchpoints across assigned projects.

- Support the preparation, review, and administration of notices, changes, amendments, claims, and other entitlement-related documentation.

- Coordinate with project controls, planning, sourcing, finance, legal, and technical teams to develop substantiation packages, event chronologies, and supporting records.

- Monitor contractual events that may give rise to cost or schedule impacts, including delays, disruptions, scope changes, late information, interface issues, and third-party impacts.

- Participate regularly in project risk and opportunity reviews and help translate project events into contractual and commercial actions.

- Provide recommendations to mitigate exposure, preserve rights, and protect GE Vernova's commercial interests.

Supplier, Subcontract, and Flow-Down Support

- Support review and administration of supplier and subcontractor contractual terms to ensure appropriate flow-down of prime contract obligations, schedule commitments, quality requirements, and documentation obligations.

- Coordinate with sourcing and procurement teams regarding supplier and subcontractor changes, claims, delays, back charges, and other commercial matters.

- Monitor supplier and subcontractor obligations, deliverables, interfaces, and remedies throughout project execution.

- Help ensure consistency between upstream customer commitments and downstream contractual arrangements where applicable.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Project Support

- Work closely with project directors, project managers, contract management leadership, legal, sourcing, finance, engineering, project controls, and other internal stakeholders.

- Build strong working relationships with customer, partner, supplier, and subcontractor representatives, as appropriate for the role.

- Advise project teams on contractual issues and contribute to informed project decision-making.

- Track contractual commitments and help ensure effective communication of contractual requirements across the project team.

- Escalate issues openly and objectively to leadership to ensure early visibility and timely resolution.

- Contribute to a culture of rigor, accountability, transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Contract Compliance, Records, and Closeout

- Ensure compliance with contractual terms and support documentation of deviations where needed.

- Maintain reliable contemporaneous records to support change, claim, payment, and dispute positions.

- Support milestone verification, payment-related documentation, and contractual deliverable tracking where required.

- Coordinate with legal on major claim and dispute matters and support development of appropriate contractual strategies.

- Support contract close-out activities, including final account documentation, release tracking, turnover support, and warranty issue management.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Law, Business, Finance, Project Management, or a related technical or commercial field and/or minimum of 5-8 years of demonstrated experience in contract management within complex project environments such as Energy, Hydro, construction, infrastructure, or other large industrial projects.

- Demonstrated experience in post-award contract administration, contract interpretation, and management of contractual issues during project execution.

- Experience drafting and managing formal contractual correspondence, notices, amendments, and change-related documentation.

- Strong understanding of contractual risk allocation, commercial implications, and the relationship between project execution events and contract entitlement.

- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and documentation streams.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work effectively across functions in a matrixed and international organization.

- Fluency in English is required. French is a strong asset, particularly for Québec-based internal and external interfaces.

Desired Characteristics

- Experience supporting hydroelectric, pumped storage, power generation, or other complex infrastructure projects.

- Experience working in EPC, split-scope, consortium, supply-and-install, or similarly complex project delivery models.

- Familiarity with change management, claims support, commercial risk registers, and contract management procedures.

- Ability to exercise sound commercial judgment grounded in contract language, project facts, and documented records.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clear, well-structured contractual communications and summaries.

- Proactive approach, strong sense of ownership, and willingness to identify issues early and drive resolution.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams and support site execution from a back-office position.

- Experience working in a complex matrix organization.

Location and Work Arrangement

- Primary location: Brossard, Québec, or remote.

- Periodic travel may be required from time to time for project meetings, internal workshops, customer meetings, supplier discussions, or key project milestones.
