Continuous Improvement Engineer

Department: Operational Excellence

Reporting To: National Director of Manufacturing

Compensation: $90,000 - $125,000 / year

SummaryThe Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for driving operational excellence across production, packaging, and inventory departments. This role focuses on process improvement, implementation strategy, data collection and analysis, training, and change management to improve efficiency, quality, and consistency across operations. The position plays a critical role in optimizing workflows, reducing waste, and supporting cross-functional alignment to ensure improvements are effectively adopted and sustained. The Continuous Improvement Engineer also ensures all process enhancements align with cannabis industry regulations, GMP standards, and internal safety and compliance requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process Improvement: Identify operational inefficiencies across production, packaging, and inventory, and apply continuous improvement methodologies to increase throughput, reduce waste, improve quality, and standardize best practices.
  • Strategy Implementation: Develop and execute improvement roadmaps and implementation plans, ensuring initiatives are aligned with operational goals, scalable across sites, and compliant with regulatory and business requirements.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collect, interpret, and report on operational data to identify trends, measure performance, and validate the effectiveness of improvement initiatives through clear metrics and KPIs.
  • Training and Development: Partner with Operations leadership to train, coach, and support Production, Packaging, and Inventory teams on process improvements, standard work, and new workflows to drive sustained adoption and performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Distribution, Business Intelligence, Operational Excellence leadership, and Operations managers to ensure alignment, remove barriers, and support smooth rollout of new processes, tools, and technologies.
  • Compliance and Change Management: Ensure all process changes and improvements meet cannabis industry regulations, GMP standards, and internal safety and quality requirements, supporting audit readiness and operational consistency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in continuous improvement or process engineering, preferably in manufacturing operations or highly regulated industries.
  • Strong knowledge of process optimization tools.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, ERP, or similar).
  • Preferred Certification in Six Sigma and Lean Practitioner.
  • Familiarity with GMP and OSHA standards.
  • Proven ability to manage complex scheduling, shifting priorities, and high volumes of coordination with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Strong project coordination skills, including follow-through, organization, and the ability to drive action across multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to tone, clarity, and professionalism.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and solutions-oriented; able to anticipate needs and remove roadblocks before they arise.
  • High level of discretion and sound judgment, with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Experience supporting operational workflows, internal documentation, or business process improvements strongly preferred.
  • Must have experience working with a high sense of urgency, preferably in a fast-paced work environment
  • Computer Skills: Strong technical proficiency with common workplace tools; Microsoft suite (core applications), Google, Slack, experience in Jira and/or other management platforms and software.
  • Language Skills: Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written
  • Math Skills: Possess basic mathematical skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel required between buildings and sites
  • Ability to maintain and manage confidential information
  • State regulations require all applicants must be 21 years of age or older
  • ServSafe or Food Handler's Card preferred
  • Will be required to submit to a background check
  • Must obtain all applicable state-required permits, licenses, and certifications
