Full Job Description
Responsible for the independent review and challenge of credit decision strategies across Consumer Lending products spanning the credit lifecycle, including marketing, new account originations, account management, and collections/recovery. Primary oversight responsibilities include establishing governance frameworks and control limits to measure credit performance and ensure alignment with the organization's risk appetite. Additional responsibilities include participation in risk governance forums, working groups, and committees. Manage and maintain Consumer Credit Policies, Standards, and Procedures in accordance with requirements established by the Policy Management and Governance (PMG) team. Coordinate with Business Units (BU) and key stakeholders on the development and ongoing maintenance of credit decision strategies. Assist with the training, development, and interpretation of various internal reports. Consumer Lending credit exposures include Credit Card, Unsecured Personal Lines and Loans, Real Estate, Auto, Small Business, Consumer Wealth Management, Direct to Consumer, and other National Consumer Finance products representing more than $120 billion in outstanding balances. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Utilize functional background and experience in partnership with BUs first and second lines of defense, Credit Risk Review and Audit to develop and implement credit policies, guidelines, and procedures 2. Promote consistency of Bank's credit culture and lending strategies throughout organization. Responsible for championing the advancement of the organizations risk management culture, framework, and appetite 3. Provide oversight and feedback to BU leaders on assigned portfolio or processes to ensure strong asset quality, manage risk concentrations, exceptions, and sustainable performance through business cycles 4. Perform independent credit risk assessments on transactions adjudicated by BUs and provide timely actionable feedback to first line of defense leadership 5. Manage Loan/Operational Authority systems of record, perform regular control assessments 6. Monitor problem assets of assigned segments (delinquent loans, non-performing assets and charge-offs) to limit credit losses through regular communication with loss mitigation teams and Default Management 7. Provide analytical and intuitive feedback as to product guidelines and parameters based on performance study and industry data 8. Support training and communication efforts related to policies, as necessary 9. Support the development of committee presentations by providing independent analysis and commentary 10. Aid in the coaching and development of BU teammates 11. Stay abreast of laws, regulations and risk management techniques to ensure compliance and best practices in risk management. Bachelor's degree in Business; or equivalent education and related training. 2. 7 years of credit related experience including underwriting/credit approval, documentation skills, modeling skills and problem loan experience 3. 7 plus years of related experience, including consumer, small business, credit card, mortgage and wealth 4. Consumer risk and regulatory knowledge 5. Ability to think strategically, multi-task, and drive change 6. Advanced quantitative, governance and analytic abilities 7. Strong decision making capability 8. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: 1. 10 plus years credit related experience 2. Master's degree in business administration, finance, accounting or engineering 3. Direct experience with the development of consumer or small business credit decision strategies 4. Experience evaluating credit metrics to monitor strategy performance 5.
