Job Summary:

Partners and collaborates with first line of defense business units to ensure compliance risk management programs are effective. Ensures all testing, reviews, documentation, and reports are following regulatory and company guidelines, policies, and procedures. Monitors and tracks findings and ensure corrective action is implemented. May assists with maintenance of the control framework and risk assessment activities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Partners with first line of defense business unit management to identify, analyze, and monitor areas of emerging risk. Educates first line of defense business unit management on risks and controls. Schedules monthly meetings to ensure continuous communication of risk trends, issues, self-testing processes and changes, as well as identified gaps.
  • Assists senior manager with maintaining the first line of defense self-testing validation process to test effectiveness of processes and controls, and acts a lead when executing that validation process, including providing recommendations for corrective action based on review findings.
  • Ensures all regulations, risks, and supported products applicable to the first line of defense are identified so that testing priorities can be evaluated and established.
  • Collaborates with the first line of defense business unit partners in the execution of risk and control self-assessments. Ensures self-testing procedures, workpapers, and/or supporting documentation are effective.
  • Assists with the development and documentation of detailed testing scripts covering regulatory requirements used for periodic self-testing.
  • Develops recommendations for corrective action based on validation of review findings, self-identified issues escalated by the first line of defense, as well as gaps in controls or self-testing.
  • Works with first line of defense business units to refine recommendations. Tracks issues to completion and ensures corrective action has been implemented within specified timeframes. Analyzes trends in risk categories and researches changes in risk metrics for reporting.
  • Works with team members to refine recommendations. Reviews issues and corrective actions to ensure all items of the action plan have been addressed and that issues are documented appropriately. Ensures corrective actions have been implemented in a timely manner.
  • Recommends new or revised policies and procedures, approval processes, and monitoring methods for departmental use.
  • Participates in the annual and quarterly consumer compliance risk assessment process. Participates in the creation of validation schedules. Contributes to special progjects related to the modification of wirtten procedures, templates, and guidance.
  • Assists in the development of regulatory compliance risk assessments to include enterprise-wide risk reporting, including aggregate risk concentrations and KRIs. Prepares and potentially presents reports to management regarding the status of the First Line of Defense's compliance position in areas of compliance focus and noting risk exposure where appropriate.
  • Partners with GRC Support, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), and Consumer Compliance to identify and implement process improvements using RiskPro. Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of control framework in RiskPro.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of consumer regulatory compliance regulations. May orient, train, assign, and review work of junior team members.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.

Minimum Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Experience:
  • Eight years of job related experience. Experience with large banks ($100B+), complex risk profiles, and comprehensive risk management experience.
