$5,667.367 - $10,666.66 per month commensurate with experience.
Job Description Summary:
The Construction Supervisor-MEP is responsible for the quality assurance of the mechanical and/or electrical construction aspects of all capital projects. These projects involve new facilities and major renovations for the institutions and agencies of The Texas A&M University System.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Project Managers with the interpretation of contract documents and ensuring that all mechanical and/or electrical work conforms to the contract documents.
- Coordinate with the Project Managers concerning the start-up of mechanical and/or electrical systems.
- Conduct project inspections for proper installation of mechanical and/or electrical systems.
- Review drawings and specifications for conformity to The Texas A&M System mechanical and/or electrical construction standards, code requirements and construction costs and recommends alternate solutions where required.
- Troubleshoot new and existing mechanical and/or electrical systems.
- Review requests for additional work from the Architect/Engineers, contractor or using agency.
- Prepare field reports with details of conditions observed, instructions given and recommendations for corrective action required.
- Provide field training to Facilities Planning & Construction staff related to mechanical and/or electrical construction.
- Approve payments for mechanical and/or electrical testing services.
- Arrange for utility outages with proper authority.
- Arrange high voltage testing and other mechanical and/or electrical testing.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or similar program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Seven years in mechanical or electrical construction.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of construction principles and practices.
- Ability to read and interpret contract documents and the ability to maintain an effective relationship with project architects/engineers and contractors.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master Electrician or equivalent Mechanical licensing preferred.
