Construction Superintendent-Civil & Site Infrastructure-

The Construction Superintendent will support a multi-year construction project involving significant civil, mechanical, site development, piping, and infrastructure construction.

Duties:

  • Provide field supervision and coordination of construction activities within assigned civil, mechanical, and site infrastructure disciplines.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee daily field activities to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project drawings, specifications, procedures, schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Supervise construction activities involving one or more of the following areas: earthwork and grading, demolition, storm and sewer systems, piping systems, firewater, service water, and associated site infrastructure.
  • Coordinate craft labor, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and work fronts to support construction schedules and project priorities.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, work packages, schedules, and installation requirements prior to execution of work.
  • Coordinate excavation, trenching, bedding, installation, backfill, compaction, grading, and restoration activities as applicable to assigned work.
  • Oversee installation of storm drainage, sewer, firewater, service water, and other piping systems as assigned.
  • Coordinate piping installation activities including material handling, layout, fit-up, welding or joining, supports/restraints, testing, flushing, and turnover as applicable.
  • Coordinate demolition activities and ensure existing facilities, systems, and structures designated to remain are properly protected.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, hold points, and quality documentation with QC personnel before work is covered, tested, or released.
  • Identify drawing conflicts, constructability concerns, material issues, and field conditions that could affect safety, quality, cost, or schedule.
  • Monitor productivity, manpower, equipment utilization, material availability, and construction progress.
  • Participate in daily planning, coordination meetings, look-ahead scheduling, and development of work plans.
  • Ensure required permits, work packages, drawings, materials, equipment, and prerequisites are available before scheduled work begins.
  • Coordinate interfaces between civil, mechanical, electrical, and other construction disciplines.
  • Support system walkdowns, punch-list completion, testing, turnover, and construction completion activities.
  • Ensure field activities comply with site safety requirements, work controls, and applicable project procedures.


Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive construction experience, including field supervision or superintendent experience on industrial, infrastructure, utility, or large-scale construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising construction in one or more of the following areas:
  • Earthwork, grading, excavation, and demolition
  • Storm drainage and sewer systems
  • Mechanical piping and utility systems
  • Firewater, service water, or process piping
  • Strong working knowledge of construction means and methods associated with assigned discipline(s).
  • Experience coordinating craft labor, subcontractors, heavy equipment, materials, inspections, and construction work fronts.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, work packages, and technical requirements.
  • Experience coordinating work with Quality, Safety, Engineering, Planning, and other construction disciplines.
  • Must meet project requirements for background screening and drug testing.
  • Must be able to provide field supervision in an active construction environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ten (10)+ years of industrial, heavy civil, infrastructure, or mechanical construction experience.
  • Experience supervising multiple civil, mechanical, and/or site infrastructure disciplines.
  • Experience with large-diameter piping, firewater systems, process piping, or utility piping.
  • Experience with piping installation, welding activities, hydrostatic testing, flushing, and system turnover.
  • Experience with mass excavation, engineered fill, grading, compaction, storm drainage, sewer, and site development.
  • Experience coordinating complex multidisciplinary construction interfaces.
  • Previous DOE, nuclear, federal, or other highly regulated industrial construction experience.
  • OSHA 30 or other applicable construction safety training.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Previous Savannah River Site or other DOE site experience.
