Construction SSHO - San Diego CountyRQ Construction is currently seeking a
Construction Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support military construction projects throughout
San Diego County. Although the position is based out of our Carlsbad office, project assignments may be located at various active military installations across the region.
The SSHO is responsible for overseeing all aspects of jobsite safety and ensuring compliance with contract requirements, EM-385 standards, OSHA regulations, company safety procedures, and site-specific Accident Prevention Plans (APP). This role works closely with project leadership to help maintain a safe and productive work environment while supporting quality construction operations. The position may also supervise assigned direct reports as needed. Because this is a field-based role, on-site presence is required, and travel or relocation to assigned projects may be necessary.
Compensation & Benefits- Annual salary range: $90,000-$125,000 depending on qualifications and experience

Preferred Qualifications & Experience- Combination of construction field experience, safety training, and/or Occupational Safety and Health certifications from OSHA Training Institutes or other recognized safety organizations
- Professional safety credentials such as CHST, OHST, or ASP through BCSP may be qualifying
- Minimum of 5 years of applied commercial construction work experience or equivalent is required
- At least 5 years of construction safety management experience at the project-site level preferred
- Competent Person training or demonstrated experience in areas including Fall Protection, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Excavation/Trenching, Scaffolding, and PPE required. Additional related degrees or certifications may be considered in place of Competent Person training.
- Minimum of 5 consecutive years of documented safety training averaging at least 24 hours annually
- Previous experience with NAVFAC, USACE, and EM385-1-1 clients strongly preferred
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and internet applications required
- Familiarity with RMS/QCS and Viewpoint software preferred
- Current CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30 certifications (completed within the past 5 years) required
