Responsibilities

  • Manage daily activities for various construction projects, ensuring compliance with policies.
  • Oversee performance of outside contractors to ensure contracted work is completed.
  • Ensure all construction activities are safe and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain project budgets and schedules effectively.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork for project phases in compliance with policies.
  • Liaise with architects and engineers throughout design and construction.
  • Ensure satisfactory completion of projects, including punch lists and equipment placement.
  • Monitor compliance with ICRA requirements and coordinate health inspections.

Full Job Description
The Project Manager works under the general direction of the Director of Construction/Project Director to carry out large construction projects. This position requires a high level of understanding of the construction management process. This individual must interact with the hospital department heads and senior leadership to manage projects within the established timelines and budgets. The senior project manager is also a mentor to the project managers and engineers as they develop in their roles.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day activities related to a variety of construction projects performing all duties in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Oversee activities and performance of outside contractor forces in accomplishing contracted work.
  • Assure that all construction activities are carried out in a safe and secure manner and that all relevant regulatory requirements are met.
  • Maintain budget and schedule for all projects assigned.
  • Complete all necessary/required paperwork essential for all phases the projects in compliance with the established policies and procedures.
  • Liaison with architects/engineers as required through the design and construction process.
  • Assure satisfactory completion of every project assigned including the completion of punch lists, phone and data installation, furniture and equipment placement and move-in.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all ICRA requirements.
  • Schedule and coordinate all Department of Health inspections and certifications.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the existing facilities and their utilization on all UPMC Hospital campuses.
  • Collaborates with construction management personnel, supply chain management personnel, outside vendors, contractors and design professionals to assure comprehensive satisfaction of the end user for all projects assigned.


Qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or closely related field and three (3) years construction management experience; or eight (8) years' experience in construction management is required
  • Solid knowledge of hospital construction and health care equipment required.
  • Experience in a commercial construction field highly preferred.
  • Leadership experience is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management principles.
  • Ability to develop and monitor budgets for large construction projects.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication and teamwork skills.
