POSITION SUMMARY Applegreen is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join our rapidly expanding U.S. Developments Team to drive delivery on one of America's largest Travel Plaza Redevelopment programs.
This is not a single-site project management role.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of multiple construction projects across several states, helping transform and modernize major travel plazas, fuel facilities, convenience retail locations, and national Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) brands throughout the United States.
Over the past decade, Applegreen has grown into one of the largest operators of travel plazas, fuel stations and roadside retail locations in the country. With significant investment planned across our U.S. portfolio, we are undertaking an ambitious multi-year development program involving large-scale redevelopments, ground-up construction, renovations, restaurant fit-outs, and operational improvement projects.
We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the business, take ownership of meaningful projects, and play an active role in shaping the next phase of Applegreen's expansion.
The Construction Project Manager will oversee multiple concurrent projects throughout various stages of design, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover.
Projects include:
- Travel plaza redevelopments
- Ground-up developments
- Fuel station improvements and installations
- Convenience store construction
- National QSR brand fit-outs
- Large-scale renovations and remodels
- Special asset and infrastructure projects
- Exposure to capital projects ranging from $5 million to over $100 million in value.
This role offers significant exposure to all phases of the development and construction lifecycle while working directly with senior leadership, consultants, contractors, restaurant brands, operations teams, and external stakeholders.
This position provides a clear path toward Senior Construction Management, Program Management, and Development Leadership opportunities as Applegreen continues to expand its U.S. footprint.
Key Responsibilities Project Leadership - Manage multiple concurrent construction and development projects, often across several states.
- Act as Construction Project Manager and/or Owner's Representative as required to protect Applegreen's interests throughout project delivery.
- Lead projects from concept through turnover and operational opening.
- Develop, maintain and actively manage project schedules and milestone plans.
- Coordinate consultants, architects, engineers, contractors, utility providers, permitting authorities and any and all other stakeholders, to complete the project.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Cost & Commercial Management - Monitor project budgets, forecasts and expenditures.
- Review contractor pricing, change orders and cost proposals.
- Assist with procurement and subcontractor selection activities.
- Identify and mitigate schedule, cost and delivery risks.
Construction Management - Conduct regular site visits and project inspections.
- Monitor contractor performance and construction progress.
- Resolve project challenges and facilitate decision-making to maintain momentum.
- Thoroughly review construction documents for completeness, constructability and coordination.
- Support project commissioning, closeout, punchlist and turnover activities.
Stakeholder Management - Act as the primary point of coordination between Development, Operations, Design, Restaurant Brands and Construction Teams.
- Maintain open communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare project reports, status updates, risk registers and executive summaries.
- Present project progress and recommendations to senior leadership.
Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills - Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline. (Equivalent industry experience and qualifications will be considered).
- Minimum 5 years of construction project management experience.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction, permitting, procurement and project delivery.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Travel Expectations This is a field-oriented project management role.
Travel to project sites out of State will be required. Candidates should be comfortable visiting active construction sites, managing projects across multiple locations, with overnight travel as project needs dictate.
Work Environment This is a hybrid position combining remote work, office collaboration, and field-based project management.
A typical week may include:
- Working remotely from home to manage schedules, budgets, reporting, procurement, and project coordination.
- Collaborative office and on-site meetings with leadership, consultants, design teams, contractors, and operations stakeholders.
- Regular visits to active construction sites to monitor progress, resolve issues, review quality, and support project delivery.
The successful candidate should be comfortable transitioning between strategic planning, stakeholder management, and hands-on project execution in the field.
