Overview

Shimmick is seeking a talented Construction Manager to be based in Glendale, CA. This position is responsible for the organization, direction, supervision and coordination of construction activities and will initially support the North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project, a progressive 19-mile transit corridor connecting North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock, and Pasadena. Featuring 22 new stations, the BRT line is designed to provide faster and more reliable transit options, reduce traffic congestion, and improve air quality by utilizing zero-emission electric buses.

Southwest Division

Shimmick's Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation, and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $828 million Gerald Desmond Bridge, the first cable-stayed vehicular bridge in California.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Provides guidance to employees within the latitude of established policies.
  • Establishes procedures that affect immediate organization.
  • Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including understanding of current business trends.
  • Acts as an adviser to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
  • May have budget responsibilities.
  • Oversees the administration of projects during the construction cycle including technical, financial, and client satisfaction.
  • Accountable for the development, coordination, and execution of the planning, design and/or construction management activities and personnel under individual's direction on a day-to-day basis.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED + 12 years of relevant experience in field construction supervision including 2 years' experience in the General Superintendent position or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders.
  • Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skill.

The salary range for this position is between $180,000 - $205,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
