Construction Manager, Major Projects

Spark Power Corp USA is seeking an experienced Construction Manager, Major Projects who will be accountable for the safe, on-schedule, and on-budget execution of craft construction work across Spark Power's largest high voltage and low voltage programs and projects. This role provides hands-on field leadership of craft construction crews - electricians, powerline technicians, and other skilled trades - directly supervising site superintendents, foremen, and subcontractor crews to ensure work is executed safely, to specification, and in alignment with the overall program plan.

Our ideal Construction Manager, Major Projects candidate will work in close, day-to-day partnership with the Program Manager, Major Projects assigned to the same project or program, translating program-level scope, schedule, and commercial requirements into an executable field plan. While the Program Manager retains overall program accountability - including client relationship, financial performance, and program governance - the Construction Manager owns the day-to-day leadership and execution of the physical craft work, providing the field-level decision-making, sequencing, and crew supervision needed to keep construction on track.

What will you do in this position?
  • Lead, direct, and supervise craft construction crews (electricians, powerline technicians, and other skilled trades) across assigned high voltage and low voltage projects/programs, ensuring safe and efficient execution.
  • Provide day-to-day field leadership to site superintendents, foremen, and crew leads, setting daily and weekly work plans and production targets.
  • Ensure craft crews have the tools, materials, drawings, and equipment needed to execute assigned scopes of work without delay.
  • Directly oversee subcontractor craft crews working on the project, holding them to Spark Power's safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Do you have the Spark? Here's what we're looking for:
  • Red Seal/journeyman certification as an Electrician, Powerline Technician, or related electrical trade required.
  • Additional post-secondary education or training in Construction Management, or a related field, is an asset but not required.
  • 5+ years of progressive field experience in high voltage and/or low voltage electrical construction, including substation construction, transmission/distribution line work, or comparable heavy electrical infrastructure.
  • 3+ years in a construction/site supervision, general foreman, or superintendent capacity, leading multi-crew craft operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large crews, including subcontractor crews, on multi-million-dollar, multi-site, or complex construction projects.
  • Experience coordinating construction activities with project/program management, engineering, and client operations teams.
  • Red Seal/journeyman certification as an Electrician or Powerline Technician required.
  • Additional certifications such as Arc Flash, Confined Space, Fall Protection/Working at Heights, and First Aid/CPR are strongly preferred.
  • NFPA 70E and high voltage switching/safe work practices certification are an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily field-based role, with extensive time on active construction sites, including substations, transmission/distribution corridors, and industrial facilities.
  • Frequent travel to project sites across Canada/U.S., with extended stays possible depending on project location.
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, heights, confined spaces, and energized electrical equipment; strict adherence to PPE and site safety protocols is mandatory.

Here are some of the perks Spark employees enjoy:

  • Diverse and exciting industrial, commercial and institutional projects and customer base
  • Growing company with consistent work
  • Continuous training and skills improvement
  • Career advancement opportunities
  • Competitive wages
  • Travel opportunities
