Our office in Hamilton, ON, is looking for a Construction Manager to join our team.
Summary of the RoleReporting to the Site Project Manager, the Construction Manager is responsible for leading and directing day-to-day construction activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the quality standards expected by the organization and its clients.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure field execution of projects adhere to safety requirements, scope, schedule, and standards/procedures.
- Attend and monitor pre-job briefings, safe work planning, daily site visits, post job debriefs and weekly tailboard meetings.
- Manage the scheduling of project activities.
- Ensure that all projects are constructed without deviation from quality standards.
- Participate in construction kick-off meetings.
- Communicate impacts and design deviations to Project Lead.
- Responsible for all sub-contractors utilized at site.
- Responsible for coordinating cross functional activities involving the trades at location.
- Communicate and coordinate with Project Lead on any resource constraints.
- Ensure all trades follow E. S. Fox Limited and Owner processes and each EHS Policies.
- Participate with clients with pre-planning for assigned projects.
- Collaborate with team to deliver projects according to design, budget, and schedule.
- Problem identification and resolution as problems arise.
- Challenge less than desirable results and work towards implanting positive changes.
- Provide daily oversight on projects with the trades performing the work.
- Maintain and exceed the required safety and quality standards.
- Adhere to the established project schedule and budgets.
- Maintain the required level of skill and competence with the construction activities.
- Identify, recommend training needs, and develop staff.
- Establish and maintain high performance standards while fostering opportunities for improvement.
- Other tasks, as assigned by the Site Project Manager.
Key Requirements, Experience and Skills- 5-10 years of experience in project execution at a senior level.
- Bachelor's degree and/or relevant work experience.
- Clear understanding of project management principles.
- Technically strong and familiar with all trade areas and disciplines.
- Overall knowledge of nuclear industry practices.
- Understand and comply with all EHS policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience, working with diverse, multi-disciplined work groups.
- Managing within union collective agreements
- Strong leadership skills, in leading/managing diverse multi-disciplined work groups.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Initiative-taking self-starter with ability to work independently.
- Ability to manage deadlines and requirements of multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient with Microsoft office and other software programs.
