Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Construction Manager with Water / Wastewater experience to join our Water Division team in Columbus, OH.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our Construction Services team in Central Ohio with support from one of the leading municipal consulting firms in the country. The Construction Manager, with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their experience and technical knowledge of water/wastewater construction, construction inspection, construction field management, QA / QC, and report documentation to manage multimillion dollar construction projects. This position will also serve as the focal point of all communication and coordination between the General Contractor, the Owner, and the Engineer

Role accountabilities:

This role monitors performance of contractors, overall site safety, subcontractors, and suppliers. Relays any issues related to these to clients, including any changes or deviations from plan, on a regular basis. It also observes and inspects wastewater pump station construction work performed by contractors, performs punch list inspections, reviews drawings and specifications and other technical documents, prepares detailed daily activity and progress reports and participates in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews. Additional duties include:
  • Maintains quality assurance requirements and monitors code compliance issues.
  • Inspects and determines deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents; clearly and professionally informs the contractor of required corrections.
  • Regularly attends and participates in construction meetings, safety meetings/updates and project site coordination meetings.
  • Monitors and documents contractor resource utilization (labor, materials, and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work and assists with negotiation of basic field construction changes.
  • Utilizes knowledge of cost trends, change management, claims, and other construction-related matters to ensure success of project delivery while maintaining Arcadis' standards and specifications.
  • Uses both their oral and written communication skills to effectively lead and conduct progress, project, safety, scheduling and other contract administration meetings with client, contractor, local agencies, and the community.
  • Recommends improvements to save project costs and/or shorten project schedules.
  • Reviews and processes contractor submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Other responsibilities will include acting as liaison to design staff to obtain field information to answer design questions through contractor RFIs.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in engineering, construction management, or a closely related field of study.

Key Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience managing construction budgets and schedules and with estimating, change order negotiation, and bidding.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 Professional Project Management and/or Microsoft Project and the MS Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with various construction document management software.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years as a Resident Engineer or Construction Manager with 2+ years of water / wastewater facilities experience or similar experience.
  • Bachelors degree in engineering, construction management, or a closely related field of study.
  • Client experience and knowledge in the greater Columbus area.
  • Active participation in a regional or national professional association.
  • Construction-related credentials, such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
  • PE or FE with intent to earn PE.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
