Job Title:Senior Construction Manager - Heavy Civil & Earthworks (Owner's Representative)

Location:Columbus, OH (100% Onsite)

Job Type: Contract (6 Months Initial, mapped to extend to 18 Months)

Schedule:Monday - Friday, 40 Hours/Week (No Overtime)

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Construction Manager / Owner's Representative to oversee the critical Site Civil, Mass Earthworks, and Infrastructure phase for a major greenfield mission-critical facility in the Greater Columbus, OH area.

In this role, you will act as the client's key field-facing lead on-site-monitoring General Contractor performance, inspecting heavy earthmoving and utility installations, enforcing jobsite safety standards, and keeping master schedules and budgets aligned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Leadership & Oversight: Independently observe contractor behavior, identify daily priorities, and coordinate general contractors, safety leads, environmental inspectors, and engineering teams to advance site development.
  • Drawing & Submittal Reviews: Perform detailed reviews and markups of civil, structural, and utility drawings, submittals, and RFIs using Bluebeam Revu.
  • Cost & Schedule Controls: Monitor contractor progress against master project schedules (Primavera P6) and cost forecasts; evaluate change order requests and pay applications.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Present proposals, risk-mitigation strategies, and progress findings to client management and project stakeholders.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all on-site activities strictly adhere to OSHA, environmental, and site-specific Class 2 safety protocols.

Required Qualifications & Experience
Must-Have Requirements:
  • Total Experience: 10+ years of progressive responsibility in Construction Management (ideal candidate has 10-20 years).
  • Heavy Civil & Earthworks: At least 5 years of dedicated experience managing bulk earthmoving, mass grading, site utilities, and horizontal civil infrastructure.
  • Drawing Interpretation: 10+ years reading, reviewing, and interpreting complex civil/engineering construction drawings.
  • Cost & Schedule Management: 10+ years managing multi-million-dollar project budgets, schedules, and contractor pay applications.
  • Software: Proven daily proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for plan markups and submittal reviews.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Location & Presence: Must be located in or willing to immediately relocate to Columbus, OH for 100% on-site field work.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) credential.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 schedule auditing and critical path review.
  • Background in Critical Infrastructure (e.g., mission-critical campuses, large-scale industrial facilities, or major utility substations).

Safety Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
  • Composite-toe work boots (leather or leather alternative, minimum 4 inches above the ankle).
  • Class 2 Safety Helmet (chin-strap/climbing style).
  • Class 2 or higher safety vest.
  • Class 2 or higher reflective all-weather jacket suitable for cold and wet conditions.
  • Cut- and impact-resistant gloves.
  • ANSI Z87.1 (or higher) rated safety glasses or visor.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $200,000 and $205,000. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
