Job Description

This position monitors and documents construction activities on a major commuter rail infrastructure expansion project in the New York City metropolitan area. As a Senior Construction Inspector, you will provide inspection services to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Construction & Development project team and support all construction work operations on this $1.8 billion design-build project.

You will work closely with project stakeholders to verify that construction activities are performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, contract requirements, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-profile transit infrastructure project that will have a lasting impact on the region's transportation network

Core Responsibilities
  • Monitor and document daily construction activities and project progress.
  • Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and other project documents to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Track quantities, production rates, and completed work for payment and reporting purposes.
  • Prepare daily reports and progress updates.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control activities
  • Monitor safety compliance and report unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Verify that construction activities conform to plans, specifications, permits, and regulatory requirements.

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in construction inspection or construction management
  • Experience in heavy civil and/or transit projects preferred
  • NICET certification preferred, or minimum degree requirements as listed above
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate daily reports documenting construction activities and tracking project progress
  • Ability to read and interpret complex construction plans and specifications
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, including the MTA team, design-build contractors, and railroads
