Full Job Description
Construction Administrator

You will visit project sites at intervals determined for each project to observe construction and attend meetings. Primarily, you will document the construction progress with field reports and meeting minutes. Additionally, you will facilitate the flow of construction related information in the SOBE office. SOBE conducts a significant portion of total projects as prime designer, which places the firm in the lead role for design and construction services. In such projects, the CA may be directed to schedule and conduct meetings listed below. Additionally, facility assessments and predesign observations maybe performed by this role. Supporting responses to RFI's and assisting with change order analysis.

In this role, you will:

Gain and maintain knowledge of project throughout the construction process
  • Attend transition meetings, pre-construction conferences, and ongoing construction meetings.
  • Travel to project sites and observe construction for compliance with contract documents.
  • Evaluate workmanship, quality of installations, and progress of work, including stored materials.
  • Manage and track RFIs and CORs, ensuring timely responses and maintaining project status awareness.
  • Prepare detailed field reports and maintain thorough construction documentation in accordance with SOBE standards.
  • Monitor scope changes, contractor-maintained as-built drawings, and overall project progress.
  • Review and recommend pay applications and coordinate communication among project stakeholders.
  • Schedule and conduct site visits, verify correction of deficiencies, and document corrective actions.
  • Support project closeout activities, including final inspections, punch lists, and collection of closeout documents.
  • Provide design support through site assessments, field investigations, and documentation.

  • Settle disputes, handle complaints, resolve grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiate with others
  • Cooperate and coordinate with other members of your team, architects and owners
  • Give and follow directions
  • Recognize ways to adjust ones actions to lower costs for the firm
  • Demonstrate knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in construction.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of construction industry in relation to costing/scheduling
  • General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.

Location: Roanoke, VA

Travel: 80% within a 1-2 Hour Radius

Compensation & Benefits:

The expected base salary range for this role is $100,000 - $135,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
