As a Connected Commerce Alternate Lending Risk Associate in Connected Commerce Alternate Lending Risk Strategy, you lead strategy development and ongoing optimization for unsecured installment lending products, including Chase Pay in 4.
You will own key elements of segmentation, targeting, and performance monitoring, applying quantitative analysis to improve profitability, credit outcomes, and customer experience. You'll also partner with technical and business stakeholders to translate analytical insights into rules, automation, controls, and scalable execution-while supporting regulatory and policy alignment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop unsecured installment lending risk strategies using quantitative analysis (e.g., SAS, SQL) to improve performance, customer experience, and execution quality
- Analyze portfolio performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across segments, channels, and strategies
- Design segmentation and targeting approaches to optimize approvals, losses, customer outcomes, and profitability
- Create forward-looking analytics and recommendations to address business issues and anticipate emerging risks
- Forecast impacts of strategy and mix changes; guide business partners through adjustments based on expected outcomes
- Translate strategy intent into clear requirements for rules engines and automated decisioning; partner with technical teams on implementation
- Build monitoring and reporting to track strategy health, segment performance, and operational execution
- Maintain comprehensive controls to ensure processes execute as designed and comply with internal standards
- Investigate anomalies and performance changes; perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Prepare written presentations and communicate insights, findings, and recommendations to senior leaders
- Support adherence to regulations and alignment with Risk Policy and established procedures
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in risk management and/or financial services (credit risk, lending, analytics, strategy, or related)
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Finance or similar) or equivalent practical experience
- Hands-on experience using SAS and/or SQL for data extraction, analysis, and performance monitoring (other languages considered)
- Strong proficiency in Excel and ability to synthesize results into clear, decision-ready insights (Tableau experience a plus)
- Demonstrated ability to independently structure ambiguous problems and produce forward-looking, actionable solutions
- Proven experience performing quantitative performance analysis (segmentation, targeting, trend analysis, monitoring, forecasting)
- Strong written communication skills, including creating executive-ready presentations and documentation
- Strong verbal communication skills, including presenting findings and recommendations to senior management
- High attention to detail with a track record of strong execution, ownership, and follow-through
- Ability to partner cross-functionally with technical, product, operations, and compliance stakeholders
- Sound judgment, curiosity, and a disciplined analytic approach to decision-making
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Experience supporting unsecured consumer lending products (installment, card, or digital lending)
- Familiarity with rules engines, automated decisioning, and strategy implementation in production environments
- Understanding of consumer banking financial fundamentals (profitability drivers, losses, unit economics, segment mix)
- Experience building and managing controls, monitoring frameworks, and/or issue management routines
- Exposure to risk governance, regulatory considerations, and policy adherence in a lending context
- Experience with Tableau (or similar BI tools) to deliver scalable performance dashboards
- Demonstrated ability to drive improvements that measurably impact risk outcomes and profitability
