Full Job Description
The Configuration Manager - Journeyman will establish and maintain disciplined configuration management practices for mission-critical software baselines in a regulated enterprise environment. This role ensures traceability, consistency, and audit readiness across the software lifecycle while partnering with engineering and operations teams to control change and protect baseline integrity.

This position is responsible for configuration identification, change control, status accounting, audits, and configuration documentation. The role also supports leadership reporting, tool administration, and process improvement to strengthen governance across the enterprise software environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain configuration management plans, policies, and procedures aligned to enterprise and federal standards.
  • Administer the configuration management database and maintain accurate configuration item relationships and lifecycle records.
  • Manage software baselines, version control practices, and branching standards to preserve integrity and traceability.
  • Execute change control workflows, including intake, impact analysis, approvals, implementation tracking, and closure.
  • Conduct functional and physical configuration audits to verify consistency between documentation and deployed systems.
  • Produce configuration status accounting reports, metrics, and leadership briefings for governance and compliance reviews.
  • Integrate configuration management processes with CI/CD and DevSecOps workflows to improve automated traceability.
  • Train stakeholders on configuration management tools, procedures, and audit readiness expectations.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 4 years of configuration management experience in software or technical environments.
  • Experience developing and maintaining configuration management plans, baselines, and version control practices.
  • Experience performing configuration audits, status accounting, and change control activities.
  • Experience working with engineering, operations, and program stakeholders in a regulated environment.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ServiceNow CMDB or a similar configuration management platform.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps toolchains and automated configuration tracking.
  • Industry certification such as Certified Configuration Manager or ITIL Foundation.
  • Experience supporting federal or government IT environments.
